Hun Sen should make these 4 CD's by Prince Sihanouk in musics and movies available to the public. As a music lover I do not mind to have a copy of these CD's I consider a Khmer chef d'oeuvre.
It is good to see that both Cambodia's former and current leaders are interesetd in cultures and arts; even though more diverse topics would help broaden the perspectives.
It is when King Sihanouk discussed the area of social, cultural, and artistic ideas and experiences that he evokes the good memories. And, it is of course, a pleasant change to hear that Mr Hun Sen is interested in something other than tough ruling rhetorics.
It would be a healing sensation to see King Sihanouk apologizing about the Khmer Rouge legacy, clarifying that he no longer holds any grudges on the so-called children of "lon nolians.
" I know it is a tall hope that I might see this dream in my own or the King's lifetime so that the mind conflicts can be reconciled.
It is a love-hate feeling that should have tilted more toward the love/admiration than the hate/despise; and to see that happen, is to have conciliatory hearts from these leaders, particularly from the revered former King.
Khmer leaders, scholars, and elders needed to teach Khmers younger generation about the meaningful accomplishment of the leaders. What was described was a waste of time?

If you can justify that the former King did not miscalculate his political move by joining and supporting the Khmer Rouge - a botched system that killed about 1/4 of Cambodia's population in the early '70s - I believe The King has nothing to be remorsed and apologize for. But if there was even a little dark corner of history that implicated his contribution to the being of the Khmer Rouge, then he owes this much to his people.
The King is not the enemy of his people, and he should not be, and that is why I believe he needs to reconcile instead of continuing with his hatred and revenge. He should be above all politics and the force and catalyst for healing/reconciliation. To reconcile and to heal is the action that a "father" of the nation should embrace. Time for him to continue to fight for revenge and righteousness has been over for a long time; it is now time for him to make peace. King Sihanouk has the power/prestige and ability to heal the old wound because he is above all these little people who dislike and hate him. Those people who knew or were victims of the Khmer Rouge but never were any part of Lon Nol's coup d'etat deserve to hear from the King that the Khmer Rouge was a mistake.
If the King supported the Khmer Rouge because he wanted to protect Cambodia from yuons, like you said, then he miserabley failed with great incompetence - yuons are now having full grip on Cambodia.

I knew one thing and clear that
Vietnamese were in Cambodia long times ago and they planned to replace French started since 1900's before Japan took Korea, Taiwan and part of China. Vietnamese had a big advance in Indochina. Not even that Vietnamese's plan (News SEA Order) was not just in Indochina, it went into the heart of Thailand, Malaysia and in Indonesia.
Why did Phan Bội Châu go to Japan in 1905 and in Thailand in 1908 to settle a base of resistance to oust France from Indochina.
You don't know what it takes to save our little Kingdom next to Vietnam who has million army and tanks now 6 more submarines from Russia. Our Little Kingdom has a history of invasion and abused by Vietnamese and Thailand, and the US didn't make a full committment to help Cambodia but only helping their allies like Thailand and South Korea against the Communists.
Today the US are working with Vietnam, and recently Abhisit and Hanoi met and their joint military exercise.

Let the current government deal with the needs to dance with the regional and global powers. King Sihanouk still has an obligation to acknowledge his role with the Khmer Rouge and to stop mocking Khmers who did not agree that he was innocent in the KR legacy.
The fact is whatever King Sihanouk does at this time has very little relevance. The Chinese or the US will still try to deal with the Viets or the Thais.
