Shortly prior to the March 18, 1970 coup d’état which toppled then-Prince Norodom Sihanouk, General Duong Sam Ol and his wife were visiting Beijing. After the coup d’état, General Duong Sam Ol decided to join Prince Sihanouk and was nominated as Minister of Armament. During the 1970-1975 war period, General Duong Sam Ol remained mainly in Beijing and was not actually involved in any fighting per se. Following the Khmer Rouge victory on 17 April 1975, General Duong Sam Ol returned to Cambodia with other Sihanoukists, such as Sarin Chhak, the former Minister of Foreign Affairs. Ong Thong Hoeung, the author of the book “J’ai cru aux Khmers Rouges” (I believed the Khmer Rouge) indicated that, upon their arrival in Cambodia, General Duong Sam Ol, Sarin Chhak, Ang Kim Khoan and several other Sihanoukists were imprisoned in the Boeung Trabek detention center, also known as B-32. Hor Nam Hong was one of the directors of B-32 under the KR regime.

After reading the article below by Baphuon, it's very confusing to make out about G. DSO. He is a Sihanoukist and yet sharing great vision with General Lon Nol? He seems to also wanting by General Son Sann which is a Sihanoukist for $50,000 Baths? What is going on here?

Are you saying that even G. DSO nad G.LN were seeing the same thing about Vietnam intention to take over Cambodia, they did not necessary commit to the same thing? Meaning creating the March 18th. 1970's coup together? So that he and G. Lon Nol could share power in Cambodia? Why not? Shame Shame on GDSO. No wonder he was hunting down for $50,000 baths by Gen. Son Sann who was so loyal to Sihanouk. Another word. GDSO got nothing during Lon Nol and went to B 32 prison for nothing either with Sihanouk. What for? Sorry...it looks like he died for anything yet to be significant or may be not. Again, please explain, if you can. He seems like a great Cambodian man, but did not get to achieve his ultimate goal like Lon Nol or Sihanouk did and what is his ultimate goal? To fight vietnam forever? or just in the name only? We sincerely believe that he is intends to the Viet until the end of time. It's too bad that he died too soon even though he was 93 years old.

That's what khmer is all about.They are confusing and mentally disturb big time.Starting from old fart Sihanouk who was born as SDACH but so cozy with communist CHINA,yuon Vietcong and North Vietnam,north korea,khmer rouge and ultimately became khmer rouge spokeman etc. Sihanouk seem to forget that communist hate SDACH that's why they choose to be communist.
KR trial is anything, but genuine court. Why? Because you don't see Hor Nam Hong's arrest warrant or being call to stand trial. After, all he knows everything about KR and even more then King Sihanouk did. The big messing puzzle had contained in this man's hands all along and yet no one dares to ask about him about it. Very shameful. You just cann't blaime Robert Petit for quiting.
This author is misleading the readers. DSO is 100% sihanoukist He was a soldier for Sihanouk (not for the nation) from the beginning until his last days. He has no significant role in Cambodian army. He rose from the to high ranking military staff because his loyalty to Sihanouk. Both DSO and LN were very incapable soldiers
children are the future of cambodia, please treat them all well and train them all well too. encourage them all to learn from the world, i mean the entire world, encourage them not to think inside the box only, instead, encourage them to travel the world and see and learn from the big planet out there. only when we realize this will cambodia have a bright future for all to enjoy. history are just that, it's history, howeve, the future, we all can help to change and shape a better future for our beautiful and beloved country of cambodia. god bless cambodia and all our beautiful khmer people and citizens.
