PM Hun Xen sent a diplomatic-like reaction to Global Witness, asking the latter to stop criticizing the government of Cambodia for destroying forest. At a national forum for climate change held in the afternoon of Monday, Hun Xen indicated also that poor countries like Cambodia do not create climate change.
Through the UK ambassador in Cambodia, Hun Xen sent a message to the London-based Global Witness, asking it to stop criticizing his government for deforestation.
In a conference on climate change held in the afternoon of Monday 19 October, Hun Xen indicated that deforestation does not create climate change. He also blamed climate change on large countries, such as the US, which cannot currently end their forest fires.
The diplomatic-like reaction by Hun Xen is in response to Global Witness which considers Cambodian government leaders as “Family of the thieves of the nation” due to their involvement in deforestation. Such deforestation leads to out of season flooding and climate change for example.
However, Hun Xen rejected all these reports. In front of climate experts, Hun Xen indicated that poor countries, such as Cambodia, do not create climate change problem. Quite to the contrary, it is unfortunate that poor countries with very little development that suffer the most.
Therefore, according to Hun Xen, rich countries should be more responsible and they should not blame countries with little development.
Nevertheless, Hun Xen indicated that Cambodia is resolved to find a solution to the climate change problem.
Climate change creates 3 types of problems:
1- Increase in the global temperature,
2- Change of the rainy season,
3- Rising ocean water level.

Climate changes is because HUN SEN cut down all trees in Cambodia. Used to be at 70% before the 80's now is like less than 25%.

Why your government doesn't sue Glabal Witness with the UK court? If they are wrong, they should pay for their screw up, right?
Hun Sen is right. Cambodia is very small and non-industrial. All pollutions and climate change as we know are caused by the rich and industrialized countries like US, Britain, China, India, ...etc.
Global Witness should focus its efforts on the real polluters, including Britain, that are destroying ecosystem instead of going after small countries like Cambodia.

Global warming is caused by the industrial world and now China and India. This is clear. Hun Sen is trying to confuse the fact.
Global Witness does not accusing Hun Sen and the CPP of causing Global Warming but causes deforestation and then pocket the money rather than put into the national treasure.

According to World Disaster Report 2009, "Climate Change" is a long-term early warning being alarmed by more and more scientists and it has already been witnessed by numerous climate-related disasters. Unless we (the world) take early action, this early warning is useless and we and our next generation will pay the price of our ignorance.

Al Gore travels the world in a private jet, wagging is fat finger at everyone, telling everyone they have to limit their lives while he does not limit his. His Jet uses more fuel in an hour than most cars use in a decade. He lives in a 20,000 square foot home that uses more electricity in a month that the average US home uses in a year. I don't believe the message because of the action of the messenger.
