OPPOSITION leader Sam Rainsy attended a meeting of the European Parliament in Brussels on Tuesday to discuss the Cambodian human rights situation, a day after his parliamentary immunity was suspended by the National Assembly.
Sam Rainsy told Voice of America prior to the meeting that he would raise a number of issues related to the past year’s crackdown on opposition lawmakers and other government critics.
“I will raise the issue of the suspension of my immunity ... and tell the EU parliament about the violation of human rights and parliamentarians’ rights in Cambodia,” he said.
On Monday, the National Assembly stripped Sam Rainsy of his immunity to pave the way for his prosecution over an incident in which he removed wooden posts that marked the Vietnamese border.
Tith Sothea, a government adviser, said that Sam Rainsy’s allegations in Brussels had often “inflated” information for an international audience in order to gain a political edge on the Cambodian government.
“We already know that opposition leader Sam Rainsy is a provoker who seeks political benefits,” he said.
“I dismiss this accusation – the Cambodian court system is independent from the legislature and executive bodies.”
Sam Rainsy said Monday that in the coming days, he will also meet with the International Parliamentary Union in Geneva and other “friends of Cambodia” to discuss what he termed the country’s ongoing “slide towards totalitarianism”.
The UN Human Rights Council will review Cambodia’s human rights situation during its quadrennial “Universal Periodic Review” on December 1.

Pol Pot was an epitome of patriotism with his true dedication and commitment in killing the Vietnamese people, also called “Yuons,” for the betterment of Cambodia, yet he became a true hero among his colleagues for the massive slaughter of Yuons during his reign era. However, he never regretted the fact that he slaughtered the Vietnamese people; also, at the time, we thought that was the right thing he could do for his nation.
We admire our late leader Pol Pot and our collegues for being patriotic for our homeland. When come to patriotism, our late leader Pol Pot was such a dedicated patriotic leader than Hun Sen and his followers, who are robbing our motherland’s natural resources to please Yuon. One thing we can honestly and truly say about the Vietnamese is that if we were given another opportunity, Yuons will not be settled on Cambodia soil. That said, the Vietnamese will eliminated the element of threat--Hun Sen and his top followers, that is--when they become dispensable.

I don't want to write my comment long enough to respond to yours. I think a few words to wise like you is enough. Your words are worth as my achm as you claim Pol Pot is/was your hero who killed no Yuouns but Khmers. Let me tell you something idiot: It was in the mids of of 1977 when Pol Pot, thinking one of his armed men could kill up to 4o Yuons, sent his armed men to kill about 400 Yuon villagers in Hatien, and you see how long later did the Yuons fight back your Pol Pot? It took Yuons about 5 months to launch a mass invasion of Cambodia and it lasted a few months. Do you see what I mean? I mean: when your hero killed real Yuons, they fiercely fought back and won a great victory over your dumb and barbaric hero in a short period of time. And your hero did not kill a single Yuon in his era. He kiiled the innicent Khmer people, you dumbfool!!!

I am a member of an opposition party in the National Assembly. I wonder why Sam Rainsy usually watch out only eastern border? By contrast himself and his owner party never raised about border dispute between Cambodia and western country? Not only this they have closely relationship with and strongly support Thai Yellow. We have never seen a small piece of letter or a word to condomn Thai Yellow whose ruling party has been established by Coup Detat, Abused International Convention and Cambodia Territory. Think about it! How many illegal Thai compare to Viet in Cambodia? How much land Thai confescade compare to Viet? Within the next decade there will be more Viet then Khmer in Cambodia. Hun Xen will try to kill or suffered all Khmer to death as many as he can while he still live.
Anything Hun Xen do to or between Khmer or/and Thai are just for the best benefit to Viet. Everyone knows that.
