The Bank for Investment and Development of Cambodia (BIDC) opened its Ho Chi Minh City branch on December 26 in the presence of Vietnamese and Cambodian Prime Ministers Nguyen Tan Dung and Hun Sen.
This is the first branch of the BIDC’s expansion strategy to generate a major financial source for Vietnamese investors and businesses operational in Cambodia.
The Phnom Penh-headquartered BIDC was put into operation on July 26 with the charter capital fuelled by the Bank for Investment and Development of Vietnam (BIDV).
BIDC President Tran Thanh Van said at the opening ceremony that the new branch is expected to successfully serve as a payment channel to connect two economies and banking systems in the two countries.
He pledged to lead the BIDC and its HCM City branch to a great success and abide by the two countries’ law, thus boosting trade and investment relations between the business circles and residents from the two countries.
Hun Sen was in Vietnam’s southern economic hub to co-chair with his Vietnamese counterpart, Nguyen Tan Dung, a conference to promote investment between the two neighbouring countries.

You seriously do not know the status quo that was brought upon by the Cambodian People's Party (formerly Kampuchean People's Revolutionary Party) and the Socialist Republic of Vietnam since 1979 and once more in 1997. There is a difference between two nations such as Cambodia and South Korea exchanging ideas and business through a global economy as oppose to Vietnam attempting to monopolize commercialism in Cambodia through their proxy (the CPP) which would only benefit a select few rich Cambodian with links to Hun Sen's ruling inner circle and the whole nation of Vietnam.
I would love to see Cambodia become innovative and develop a class of ingenuity AND NOT be a nation of blind and ignorant people who are entirely satisfied with what Vietnam tosses at them. Vietnam is able to take Russian, South Korean, German, American etc. ideas and technology, adapt to them, improve upon them bit by bit and call it their own. As for Cambodia, it solely depends on what other countries give them and does nothing to improve upon it and is merely satisfied with it as is.
Vietnam takes advantage of Thai-Khmer conflict to speed up it economic domination over Cambodia. In the future everything will belong to Vietnam. This is how Indochina Federation rooted.

The way I see it, Vietnam uses Hun Sen as a proxy to worsen the Thai-Cambodian relationship so that:
1) Cambodia shifts some of its economic and social dependencies from Thailand and into Vietnam, thus placing Vietnam as Cambodia's older brother. All this is doing is simply making Cambodians and Thais hate each other more and making Cambodians love the Vietnamese.
2) Civil unrest and political turmoil inside Thalaind is worsen by the whole Thaksin Shiniwatra and Preah Vihear issues. In both agendas, Vietnam is giving advices to Hun Sen and the CPP-dominated Cambodian goivernment on how to poke and pinch Thailand. As a result, Thailand's image is tarnished and this drives businesses, investments and tourism out of Thailand and into Vietnam. Slowly this will place Vietnam ahead of Thailand in terms of their respective spheres of influence and power.
At the end of the day, Vietnam rakes up the benefits.
Thailand and Cambodia are simply falling into another Viet trap.

Hey fool! Cambodia will engage world economy in its own choosing base on its national, political, and military interest for the betterment of the Cambodian people and the nation!
I have no problem for Cambodian in dealing with Korean or any country beyond the Siem and the Viet because any country beside the Siem and the Viet have no territorial ambition over Cambodia!
What Cambodian people are dealing with is the Cambodian historical enemies written in the page of Cambodian history! What have become Cambodian history and it will be history and it can never be change in anyway shape or form! If Cambodian people don't want history to repeat and they must learn from history and so far Cambodian under AH HUN SEN leadership fail to learn from Cambodian history and now the role of AH HUN SEN is to facilitate Cambodian history against the view of Cambodian silent majority in favor of Cambodian archenemies for destruction of the whole Cambodia as a nation under misguided economic policy base personal and partisan!
This is not the first time that the Viet government proclaimed to the world and AH HUN SEN puppet Viet government that they invested in billion of dollars in Cambodia! As if some how dirt poor Cambodian people will gain certain benefit from it! Even if the Viet government invested in billion of dollars in Cambodia and dirt poor Cambodia still work for one dollar a day, still have corrupted court system control, still have the same high infant mortality, still have poor basic services such education, clean water, cheap electricity, poor roads and bridges, healthcare, and housing, job...
Any business transaction in Cambodia has to go through AH HUN SEN and it is AH HUN SEN and only AH HUN SEN alone who will benefit...
Just remember that AH HUN SEN own Cambodia and Cambodian people and it doesn't matter how you want to look at it and that is the fact! So who is stopping AH HUN SEN from going into a business and take all the profit for himself?
So Cambodia has Camko City? But Camko City hasn't materialize yet and that means nothing! Soon Cambodia will have Stock Exchange? This is just a prediction and speculation into the future about Stock Exchange until it happens! hey don't be dumb, learn from everybody, ok! viet/youn can't colonize cambodia and khmer people, although they may now influent. however, no influence is permanent anyway. wake up, people, be smart about it, alright!
let's watch further and see! viet/youn better not switch labels in the products of export to make it look like everything is made in vietnam. and make sure to have viet use khmer labelings and have tags to indicate "made in cambodia".
as long as viet/youn don't impose their culture, language, etc on cambodia and khmer people and instead encourage the use of khmer language and labelings, etc, then, it's fine. it is when they impose viet/youn language, etc on us that we have to tell them to go back to vietnam or deport them, really!
