Original report from Phnom Penh
11 March 2010
More than 200 villagers gathered in front of the Kampong Speu provincial court Thursday, demanding the release of five representatives held in a land dispute with a powerful business tycoon.
The five representatives, two woman and three men, were released Thursday afternoon. The court had brought them in for questioning after the Phnom Penh Sugar Company, run by Ly Yong Phat, filed charges against them.
Villagers have been protesting since Feb. 26 and claim they have been pushed off land by the company.
The five villagers were accused of damaging bulldozers and blocking them from destroying property on land also claimed by the company.
They were released without charge on the condition they sign a promise not to attack the company again.

CHESS OF PRIVATE PARTY! Wrong you're OUT!
One of the most wanted corruped person in Cambodia right now...Ah Ly Yon Phat!
Don't forget, Ah Sbong Sarath in Kompong Som is the most wanted corrupted person...!!
COMMUNIST PEOPLE PARTY ( CPP ) THE MOST CORRUPTION IN THE GOVERRNMENT. WHAT ARE THEY GONNA DO IF ALREADY CORRUPTED. FIRST BRING HUN SEN TO TRIAL BECAUSE HE'S THE PRIME MINISTER WHO SALE ALL THE CAMBODIAN LAND AND FOREST IN CAMBODIA.
If Mr. Yon Phat is the most wanted and corrupted man in Cambodian, why nobody prosecute him? Do you have enough evidence to support your case? Don't want to be one of those whistle blowers?
Why did the 5 villagers sign in the court and promise not to attack Mr. Phat's company again? Why? Were they guilty? Did they really try to block the bulldozers and damage his property? I just don't get it!
How about the villagers accused Mr. Phat pushed them off their land? How come, there's no mention of that here? Does it mean, these people just made up stories? Sounds so fishy to me!
I strongly believe that Mr. Phat did take the villagers' land. However, in the court of law, these people don't have enough evidence and document to prove to the court. This crooked man took their land, and they wanted it back! Instead, they signed a bogus paper and promised not to destroy the property. That's to me was absurd and unjust!
It makes it even harder for working/ poor people to prove their cases, now that the law is legit! So discouraged and sadden!
P.S what does it take to remove these crooks? Now that the so called law is on their side? Can anybody help me?
If we want to exposed them, where can we get all the documents needed and volunteered witnesses?
Again, frustrated and confused!
Could this guy be anymore viet than the way he look?
Ly Yong Phath, Kok An....from the west. Sok Kong Yeay Phou ....from the east.. they allwere Hun Xen's good friends
Cambodia is a paradise for Hun xen clan. They are leeching from the poor. One day they will pay the price for their corrupt action.. Just like ex pm Thaksin. He had to give the money bake to his country at the end.
