HUNDREDS of villagers affected by an economic land concession in Kampong Speu province’s Omlaing commune complained during a public forum Thursday that soldiers and company employees were preventing them from planting corn on their land, even though they had been issued new land titles.
During the forum, organised by the Cambodian Centre for Human Rights (CCHR), villagers, rights groups, parliamentarians and local authorities discussed disputes stemming from the 9,000-hectare land concession granted to the Phnom Penh Sugar Company, which is owned by Cambodian People’s Party senator Ly Yong Phat.
“Even though some villagers have gotten new land titles from the provincial authorities, the soldiers are not allowing them to plant corn on their farmland,” said San Tho, a villager who attended the forum.
Hab Dam, Omlaing commune chief, said that more than 200 villagers had been issued new titles since last month. Despite this, she said, “The company did not allow some villagers to plant crops because their land had already been cleared, so those villagers will have to relocate.”
Chhean Kimsuon, a Phnom Penh Sugar Company representative, said by phone that the villagers “always made up lies” and that the company had a right to “protect its land”.
“The villagers are tricksters,” she said. “They haven’t planted anything on their own land but they want to plant corn on the company’s land.”
The soldiers are like a “referee”, she said, adding that the company had already cleared about 3,000 hectares. “When the rainy season starts, we will start planting sugarcane,” she said.

I really never understand why this government of Hun Xen has abused Khmer poeple so unjustly as to deprive them of their land? Are Hun Sen, Heng Samrin, Chea Sim, Om Yintieng, Sok An, Hor Namhong, and their comrades the second wave of the vicious Khmr Rouge or are they the Youns' puppets? They are the nation destroyers!!!!
It's about time for Khmers living outside Cambodia to tell your brother, sisters, cousin, and all your friends living inside Cambodia to rises up against a dictatorship regime. Wake up Cambodian if you want to have basic right and freedom of speech you MUST stand up for your self.

Does Cambodia has a legitimate land Law? A land title could be issued at anytime without the consent from the legal land or property owner. In other words, if you are issued a legal land title, do not mean you are legally own your property. Cambodia needs an independent justice system to combat this and other matters. For this reasons if you are a low-scale investor, would you want to invest in Cambodia? Someone really has to deal with this corrupt Cambodian govt.
But the land belong to the king! And the king give all power to Pm Hun Sen!

You can't solve this kind of problem on the street. Civilized world would do this in court, but you have to trust the outcome of the court. The problem in Cambodia, is some where in between, the people do not trust the outcome when the decision is not in their favor, at the same time the Cambodian court is well known as corrupted court, so here you go. How do you solve it ?????
So as the red shirt in Thailand, they don't trust their court either, because it is not in their favor.
