A member of the EU Parliament insisted for the presence of Opposition Leader Sam Rainsy in Cambodia prior to the upcoming election in order to guarantee free and fair election in 2013.

Mrs. Cecilia Wikstrom, a EU MP, warned that if in the upcoming 2013 election, there is no presence of the opposition leader, then this election cannot be considered as free and fair.

During a press conference held in the morning of Friday 20 May 2011, Mrs. Wikstrom added that the return of a political leader is undertaken so as to maintain a lively debate during the election, and if there is no presence of Sam Rainsy, the EU will not be the only one who will react [to this issue], in fact the entire International community will react. She also indicated that there must be a large gathering [in Cambodia] to demand the return of opposition leader Sam Rainsy.

Mrs. Wikstrom added: “Please return Sam Rainsy back to Cambodia because Cambodia is his country, and he is dedicated to serve the people. The International community must react to this problem in order to demand the right for safe return of Mr. Sam Rainsy.”

Up to now, there is no positive sign that the Cambodian government may loosen up its position on the return of opposition leader Sam Rainsy to Camdodia yet. Phay Siphan, mouthpiece of the Council of Ministers, said that the government never prevented Sam Rainsy, but he has to accept his legal duty as imposed by the [CPP-controlled] court when he returns back to Cambodia.

Phay Siphan added that the absence of Sam Rainsy does is not related to free and fair election: “Democracy in Cambodia does not depend on one individual, but it depends on the system.”

Sam Rainsy, the leader of the largest opposition party in Cambodia, was sentenced by the Svay Rieng [CPP-controlled] tribunal to 2-year of jail time after he was accused of incitation to disrupt the solidarity ties between Cambodia and Vietnam regarding border issues.

After this sentence, the government added another charge on Sam Rainsy, accusing the latter of publication of Google Earth map documents and saying that the planting of border between Cambodia and Vietnam at posts 184, 185, 186 and 187 led to the loss of Khmer lands. In total, Sam Rainsy was sentenced to 14-year of jail time by the Xmer tribunal [controlled by the CPP Yuon puppet regime].

Some nearsighted people could only see something close to themselves,
not their future country and the
generation to come.
Even Cecilia lives far away from Cambodia, and not Cambodian, but she
a human being and has the rights
to protect people from a dictator
in Cambodia.
Cambodia, next election 2013,needs free and fair election.Cambodians hope that never had a coup again
from Hun Sen.Can the world
guarantee safety of Cambodia?

I believe that is Hun thug loosen up or not, donors country should give aid money to Sam rainsy to execute, use or distribute it. That mean aid money goes to hand of Samrainsy Party. That will solved problems.
