The chairman of the World Federation of Liberal International who is also a EU MP demanded that the Phnom Penh regime allows Sam Rainsy, the SRP President, to return home so he may participate in the 2013 general election. The EU MP asked that the Phnom Penh regime put into application the 1991 Paris Peace Agreements on Cambodia, and that it brings in election reform.
On Tuesday 21 June, CPP MP Cheam Yeap warned that Sam Rainsy can returned back to Cambodia only if he stops defaming the Phnom Penh regime, otherwise, Sam Rainsy will face jail.
Cheam Yeap’s warning came after the chairman of the World Federation of Liberal International, who is also a powerful EU MP, demanded that the Phnom Penh regime allows Sam Rainsy to return to Cambodia so that he can safely join the election.
Sam Rainsy who is currently living in self-exile on Paris, France, fled the arrest against him by the Phnom Penh regime after the court sentenced him to more than one decade of jail for criticizing border problems with Vietnam. Cheam Yeap added that Sam Rainsy can return back to Cambodia, but he must face jail time first if he does not soften his stance against the government.
Cheam Yeap: “There are two choices that he can request. Like before, Sam Rainsy saw his immunity removed so that he may face jail on numerous occasions, but he was freed because the king put into application 2 cases: either the king has the right to pardon and lighten this sentence or the NatAss (National Assembly) has the right to pardon him.”
The request by the chairman of the World Federation of Liberal International was made during the Liberal International’s (LI) 57th congress held in the Philippines between 16 and 20 June. Sam Rainsy is himself a member of LI and during the congress, he proposed the formation of a federation to remove dictatorships. Sam Rainsy indicated that Hun Xen rules for the past 32 years, and he added that the majority of dictators are involved in crimes and impunity.
Cheam Yeap added that, even if Sam Rainsy is sentenced, Phnom Penh did not ask other countries to arrest him and send him back to Cambodia because Phnom Penh is indulgent to the opposition leader.
On Tuesday, Kimsour Phirith, SRP spokesman, was hopeful that international warning will push Phnom Penh to allow Sam Rainsy to return back home. He added that Phnom Penh did not ask for a repatriation of Sam Rainsy because it does not want to see the opposition being able to get involved in politics in Cambodia.

i think this is a fair request by phnom penh, really! we can't allow one man, sam rainsy, to ruin other people's life, etc, you know! stop giving too much power to sam rainsy by encouraging him to keep making trouble in cambodia nonstop, really! i mean during election is one thing, but after election is over, he's still making trouble! this sam rainsy guy does not understand the limit of his ranting, his rhetorics, his disrespect of law and authority, etc. he must've live in la la land, really! even sports and games have rules and regulations, you know. same concept here in cambodia, ok! so stop the madness, ok! enough already! there are more to cambodia than you and i, really! wake up, people! if hun sen can change, so should sam rainsy, etc, really! so stop resist changes, ok! people reformed, country reformed, etc! so should sam rainsy, ok! sam rainsy is not the only specie in cambodia, ok! so stop acting that he is, really!

Cambodian defaming law is being abused by Hun Sen gov't to have people speak their mind and/or SRP to playing its role as the opposition party with no check and balance in level of government. Only CPP wins the rest of the nation loses.

He shouldn't choose to run away if he strongly believed that hi is the riht man to govern Cambodia? Why he is runng? Cambodian people would give him justice and protect him from Youn and HS? Aung San Suychi is a free woman now.
i talked to a lot khmer and they say sam rainsy keeps on running away from cambodia all the time, how can people trust him, even though he thinks he's doing a good job being an activist and fighting for khmer people's rights and freedom. if you keep running away, you lose all that credit you earn for yourself, really! it's amazing how some of us is smart at one thing, but naive or blinded in another thing. why we keeps running away from cambodia? nobody forced him to go, you know! and when things get better in cambodia, he tries to come back by taking all the credit for himself. if that's not narcissistic personality, then explain that to the khmer public, ok!
if sam rainsy is that smart, he should promote khmer education in the country like building more libraries all over cambodia and building more schools, etc, instead, he just keeps on running away all the time! no wonder khmer people do not trust or want him anymore. and he serves well his foreign bosses by sucking up to them anytime to get what he wants. and foreign people fall for that! i don't get it, if you ask me, really!
Mr Sam Raisy, I think you are better serve Cambodia by critize the traitor Husen and his corrupted cronies. Let's face it, Would CPP listen to SRP or anyone else? No. So what is the difference you being in Cambodia. You will be shut out by the Hunsen's thugs. I am not against you but 100% for you. You can do a lot abroad by bring attention to international community about the misery of many victims in Cambodia. Don't put much time on the election. Hunsen's thugs have their dirty hands already with murder and intimidation.
Puppet’s government has no decision because their action depends on the string pulling. Youn does not like SRP but he has no choice to accept the EU pressure.
Youn need Western to back them up against China. EU talks with Sicho Xen's government just to save his face only. Youn has been back down against EU pressure.

Keep saying, keep cruising what this government does wrong. SRP or all of us need to repeat it until the whole Khmer know and when we know, we are all aware of the danger that will face our children will face in the future then this regime will DIE because of the POWER of the knowledge.
Don't do sit and do nothing, we as a Khmer need to do something that individual can do to prevent her/our motherland be destroyed by Youn.
