The following is Mr. Pretty Ma's opinion regarding the VOA's article "Analysts See Political Maneuver in Hun Sen Speech "
It could be a political backfire for the PM.
While political analysts see things somewhat differently out from revelation of HUN-KEM affairs, I think it is actually enhancing the prospect of merging between SRP and HRP. But, the ball is now in HRP's court corner. It has two choices to make, not much left though. It could join SRP as a winning partner or reducing itself to the state of irrelevancy, after the next election. The good people of HRP abroad are truly devastated by the tape leak. Most felt deeply betrayed while others just went numb and speechless. They just could not believe what they were hearing. They are nationalists and they were not in any mood, shape or form to be stained with a party that collaborated in a sub-servient state like to Hun Sen. I am sure, there are plenty of soul searching among our HRP compatriots, and that is why, I think it will probably surprise Hun Sen and many who thought on the contrary. The desire to merge and to even the score with the PM could happen, finally. HRP realizes fully that with this damaging revelation, its funding source has quickly dried out. Financial aspect will become a major issue going forward for the party. It would be very challenging for anyone to try to organize a public event for Mr. Kem Sokha's next visit to North America. That is a sad reality, but that is the reality of today.
As for Mr. Hun Sen, he can twist and turn in any directions he wishes. Cambodia people are getting a whole lot wiser now, and this old trick of his could become a political liability. The PM might be successful in destroying his old ally, Kem Sokha and HRP, but he won't be able to convince the Cambodian people at large against Sam Rainsy. Sam Rainsy has stood up to Hun Sen on all national issues in defend of his people and the nation's interests - something other political parties would not ever dare touching for fear of political reprisal. Just look at the case border encroachment, removing marker planted deep inside farmers' land which forced Vietnam to removed other illegal markers along that line. Defending Cambodia's interests, this is where Sam Rainsy knows best and has never been afraid to act upon when situation called for. Hun Sen and Sam Rainsy are two completely different individuals, with different values, principles and mindset. KI-Media has a pretty clear definition of the two men, I don't have to add anything. You'll be the judges.
The only political opponent that Hun Sen fears most, is Sam Rainsy. Why? because Sam Rainsy can't be bought, bribed or intimidated - a fierce opponent who refuse to go down regardless how hard you try.
We know who Sam Rainsy is. What he stands for? What he has given up in his most successful life? What he has done? And where he wants his country going forward? He is not a leader who is taking order from Hun Sen, or fearful of the man, or even reducing himself to being a "yes, Samdach here" , "yes Samdach there". He is not the type of leader who will compromise on selling out his nation bit and pieces for the benefit of his own pocket. He is Sam Rainsy, a true living hero of Cambodia.

I don't know why peple is still talking about Sam Rainsy. Sam Rainsy is history and no longer has any value in Cambodian politics. Let him enjoy his life after politics.

Sam Rainsy's political career is already dead in the water. He is really afraid that people will forget him, that is why he tries to take every events in Cambodia and in abroad to find the way return back to Cambodia.

Sam Rainsy as an opposition leader was over for you 101 years ago, but he is still in the game. Without him in the game, donors would cut off their aid and you would starve to death before Hun Sen did.
Last time after the 1997 massacred on member of Sam Rainsy members, donors cut off 75% of aid to Cambodia. You try to kill Sam again, this time you get zero aid.

The actions by Hun Sen in 1997 cost Cambodia dearly in financial term, nearly 3 billion dollars a year for about 13 years by now.
Which is making Hun Sen reluctant to murder Sam Rainsy.
I just wanted we make term limited for the president that all I wanted to see in Cambodian. Can your guys do that?

Sam Rainsy has already made it clear that he will work to make into law to limit term of the PM office. Sam Rainsy is 60 years old and Cambodia is not about him, but about Cambodian people and the younger generation to come who will be facing shortage of futile lands as a result of land leasing, population increase + Vietnamese influx of daily immigrant with open border policy, economic desperation and shortage of medical care. Corruptions are eating up our fabric of society at all levels, without proper policies the country will face very unstable future, social implosion so on and so forth. Hun Sen does not know what a democratic society is.. because he only has one eye thats why he's behaving like a dictator. It is the fact that all his actions is benefitting him and the Vietnamese. When is this ruthless man is going to wake up so the people of Cambodia will start living. THE JOKE IS ON HIM....AND THE KHMER PEOPLE ARE CRYING.... 1) If a MAN can achive something for his group and society without casualty to his people he is a GOOD leader!
KIM SOKHA start a party in peacefull way with the help of goverment!
2)If a Man dare to preach good Idear it one BIG first step to achive something great and last long!

To all SRP supporters & Khmers: it's time to learn some history. Youns/Viets always paint our Khmer nationalists and then we start biting each other without thinking.
You need to accept the truth that Sam Rainsy's political career almost comes to an end. I appreciate his courage and his commitment to changes, but when comes to Leadership, he is not the most charismatic leader for Cambodia yet.
I invite you to be open-minded and to re-assess all his deeds:
- Changing 2/3 majority to 50%+1 is the biggest mistake to exchange for his return
- Claiming to boycott the 4th-term assembly meeting today and switching to attend the meeting the next day is considered what?...
- Blaming others for not wanting him and SRP to unite with other democratic parties. What his rationale being a leader?
- Dropping case against Hun Xen in the US? Why need to drop?...
- Why running away from your loyal members? Look at MP Mu Sochua. What Hun Xen can do to her?
- SRP needs to solve the internal issues and stop painting the ones who offer the ideas/opinions
- Public debates among all opposition and self-claimed democratic parties should be held publicly and let the public judge.
I'm not a supporter of HRP, SRP and whosoever, but always attend those leaders' meeting. One solution for our nation is to UNITE, UNITE & UNITE. Don't use pretext/excuses.
Please learn to trust with vigilance.
