Contrary to the government’s view which considers the ICJ order as being just and fair, on Wednesday 20 July, Cambodia’s opposition leader Sam Rainsy said that the ICJ’s decision is extremely unfair to Cambodia. Sam Rainsy compared the situation to the ICJ giving the same treatment to the thief and to the owner.
In a live interview from Paris on the Candle Right radio, Sam Rainsy indicated: “I am very disappointed. This decision is not fair at all. This decision gives the same treatment to the thief and to the owner.” Sam Rainsy indicated that Cambodian holds the right to Preah Vihear temple. Furthermore, the temple’s ownership was clearly recognized by the International Court of Justice in 1962, but now, the ICJ gives equal treatment to the owner and to the thief.
Sam Rainsy explained: “It’s like a thief wanting to take over somebody else’s house, the house owner takes the case to court, but the court turned around and decided that both the owner and the thief must vacate the house in order to give time to the court to decide whom it will hand out the house to.”
The ICJ temporary decision was issued on 18 July 2011, it ordered the Cambodian and Thai governments to remove their troops out of Preah Vihear temple, i.e. the disputed zone which is now considered as a demilitarized zone.
The ICJ decision came under criticisms from some Cambodian quarters as it called the area a disputed zone, whereas in reality, it is an area where the Thai government brought in their troops to aggress Cambodia since 15 July 2008 up until now.
Nevertheless, the Cambodian government agreed to the ICJ decision and it indicated that the decision is in agreement with what Cambodia wants. Hor 5 Hong, the Cambodian minister of Foreign Affairs, declared this morning that this decision will bring peace to the temple area.
However, the opposition indicated that the ICJ is the sole option adopted by the ruling party. Sam Rainsy indicated Cambodian territories were not just lost along the western border alone, but the loss of territories along the eastern border could be even larger. According to Sam Rainsy, the most efficient and unique way to resolve this issue is to bring it up to the council members of the 1991 Paris Peace agreements on Cambodia, however, the current regime gives precedence to the Yuon and it is afraid to affect the Yuon interest.

There is no doubt that Sam Rainsy had moved from a Member of Cambodian Parliament to a fugitive and now became a moron not knowing what is right or wrong? All he tries to do is, against the government no matter what.
It is a stupid comparison that the ICJ's ruling on provisional measures granted the same treatment to a thief and the owner. Although, both countries must withdraw their troops from demilitarized zone but all Cambodian civilians have free access to Preah Vihear temple and Cambodia is still in charge the temple. This ruling will bring the peace to the temple and surrounding area. Why a moron Sam Rainsy can't see it?
Sam Rainsy is trying to explain the most effective measure to protect Cambodia's sovereignty and teritorial integrity by calling for the full implementation of the 1991 Paris Peace Agreements on Cambodia.
If the Cambodian Government is serious about protecting its teritorial integrity fully, then the eastern part of Cambodia's border must also be protected.

We wouldn’t fight for a land that doesn’t belong to us. Yes, even Thailand repeated several time that they recognized the 1992 ICJ ruling and they always say so that Cambodia owns the Preah Vihear temple. But the war which engulfed that region was not originated from the temple itself, but the vicinities, or the land around the temple claimed by both countries, Cambodia and Thailand. Some argued that in 1962 the ICJ ordered Thailand to withdraw troops and polices from the Preah Vihear Temple and the temple's vicinities. The problem is that Thailand looked at different map and claimed the 4.6 skm. The reason why there was war so far. The Thais didn't use the 1904-1907 map and withdrawn its army. That is why we go back to the ICJ for interpretation of the 1962 ruling. But the war which engulfed that region was not originated from the temple itself, but the vicinities, or the land around the temple claimed by both countries, Cambodia and Thailand. People who live on both sides of the border need to live without fears of being killed or seeking refuges in other places far from their own villages. Living in peace is in fact a basic human right. More than that, if the ICJ were to order only Thailand to unilaterally withdraw its army from those vicinities of the temple that measure could be interpreted as de facto recognition of Cambodia’s ownership of the land surrounding the temple. In that case, there would be no need of further ruling or interpretation of the 1962 verdict as requested by Cambodia. That may not need the provisional demilitarized zone, or the ASEAN observers at the place, etc. Thailand may see it as a blame the ICJ squarely put on them in this war. I think that the 17 international judges of the ICJ are a lot wiser than Mr. Sam Rainsy and a lot more knowledgeable than the leader of the opposition’s party in protecting the civilians along the border. Please be a bit more patient, with the final ruling in a few months from now, Cambodia will be able to recover everything, the temple and the land around it and a border of peace and stability. Rushing to react negatively to the ruling is a mistake from the opposition!
Koh Tral Island must not be forgotten

Why do Koh Tral Island, known in Vietnam as Phu Quoc, a sea and land area covering proximately over 30,000 km2 [Note: the actual land size of Koh Tral itself is 574 square kilometres (222 sq miles)] have been lost to Vietnam by whose treaty? Why don’t Cambodia government be transparent and explain to Cambodia army at front line and the whole nation about this? Why don't they include this into education system? Why?
Cambodian armies are fighting at front line for 4.6 km2 on the Thai border and what's about over 30,000km2 of Cambodia to Vietnam. Nobody dare to talk about it! Why? Cambodian armies you are decide the fate of your nation, Cambodian army as well as Cambodian people must rethink about this again and again. Is it fair?

The Cambodian army at front lines suffer under rain, wind, bullets, bombs, lack of foods, lack of nutrition and their families have no health care assistance, no securities after they died but a very small group eat well, sleep well, sleep in first class hotel with air conditioning system with message from young girls, have first class medical care from oversea medical treatments, they are billionaires, millionaires who sell out the country to be rich and make the Cambodian people suffer everyday.
Who signed the treaty 1979-1985 that resulted in the loss over 30,000 km2 of Cambodia??? Why they are not being transparent and brave enough to inform all Cambodians and Cambodian army at front line about these issues? Why don't they include Koh Tral (Koh Tral size is bigger than the whole Phom Phen and bigger than Singapore [Note: Singapore's present land size is 704 km2 (271.8 sq mi)]) with heap of great natural resources, in the Cambodian education system?
Look at Hun Sen's families, relatives and friends- they are billionaires, millionaires. Where did they get the money from when we all just got out of war with empty hands [in 1979]? Hun Sen always say in his speeches that Cambodia had just risen up from the ashes of war, just got up from Year Zero with empty hands and how come they are billionaires, millionaires but 90% of innocent Cambodian people are so poor and struggling with their livelihood every day?

I am not sure if the all the Khmer Krom people want to be part of Cambodia if they can regain their independence from Vietnam.
I am pretty sure the Khmers in Thailand would not want to be part of Cambodia.
They have a much better life where they are right now.

true, siem should get nothing in return! we have to hear the final court ruling to see whether siem can learn to live with it or not! it's like siem thugs come to phnom penh and demand they want half of phnom penh and the cambodia can take the other half, and the court will decide whether to give the other half of phnom penh to siem thugs, doesn't make sense to khmer people at all, really! the question is simple, who built preah vihear temple, khmer or siem?, what international treaty were out there in regards to the internationally recognized borderline at preah vihear vicinity, siem unilateral map or the 1907 map? when the court should at this historical facts and existing law, siem has has no saying in any of this, really! end of story! no talking, no negotiation, no sharing, so unnecessary dealing with siem wanting to rob from cambodia, really!
