On 06 July, the Sam Rainsy Party commemorated the 14th anniversary of the clash between forces loyal to Prince Norodom Ranariddh, then-first prime minister, and those loyal to Hun Xen, then-second prime minister. The clash took place in Phnom Penh in 1997. During the commemoration, opposition leader Sam Rainsy announced through video conference that justice must be found for the hundreds of people who died during the coup d’état to topple Ranariddh from his position as first prime minister.
The SRP organized a meeting at its party headquarter with the participation of more than 100 activists. The SRP organized a religious ceremony with the presence of 14 Buddhist monks representing the 14th anniversary of the 5-6 July 1997 coup d’état.
The religious ceremony was held to commemorate the bloody fight between forces loyal to Ranariddh, then-first prime minister, and those loyal to Hun Xen who was the second prime minister in 1997.
The 5-6 July 1997 clash led to the death of several hundreds of soldiers and generals who were loyal to Ranariddh.
During the meeting this morning, through video conference from Paris, opposition leader Sam Rainsy announced that justice must be found for those who died during the coup d’état which took place 14 years ago. Sam Rainsy also called on the people to provide additional proofs to him so that he can bring the case to the International Court of Justice, a case in which Sam Rainsy called for the arrest of the criminals who have bloodied hands and bring them to face justice. Through his remark, Sam Rainsy was pointing at Hun Xen.
During a bridge construction site inauguration in Takhmao, Hun Xen reminisced about the 5-6 July 1997, however, Hun Xen raised the question that he was also a victim in that coup d’état (sic!).
Nevertheless, the Funcinpec which used to be the enemy of the CPP, but which is now turned into a CPP sycophant, as well as the Norodom Ranariddh Party did not commemorate this event on a day which the opposition called the coup d’état event.
Instead, Funcinpec, the NRP and their CPP called the SRP’s commemoration an attempt for its political gain.

People now have a very clear idea that leaders in the FUNCINPEC and NRP are cowards and ungrateful animals. They asked their supporters to die for them and then fail to even remember those who did die. Would Nhek Bunchai be alive today if his soldiers did not sacrifice their own lives for him? Would Rannaridh be alive? All of them and their families and mistresses and bastard children would be either dead or scattered around hte world if the foot soldiers did not die in their place. Now, these same politicians and generals are too cowardly to even remember the fallen? Anyone who votes for these 2 parties are in need of brain examinations. How can you support people who at the earliest opportunity forget about you? Go and have a good think, Khmer people, and carry that conviction into the next election.
This article tells all Cambodians clearly that they need to be careful when joining the so-called nation-loving political parties whether they are pro-CPP parties or pro-more freedom parties.
The Cambodian politicians tend not to have any moral characters no matter how much educated they are.
It seems that education may not be able to change their inborn inclination for power, honor and money and serves as a mean for them to get to what they want faster, which is quite sad, indeed.
One can guess with certain accuracy that the NRP and FUNCIPEC will be just as corrupt as the CPP with nothing new to offer to Cambodians by looking at their leaders so for security and stability sake, if they were the only choices, we might as well vote to keep PM Hun Sen in power and hopefully he will be less corrupt since he has got lots of money already.
Everyone knows that the 5-6 July 1997 clash led to the death of several hundreds of soldiers and generals who were loyal to Ranariddh and Nhek Bun Chhay and yet somebody else tries to find justice for the victims instead of these 2 individuals at least in symbolic term since no court under the sky can do or want to do anything to change the status quo in Cambodia and Mr. Sam Rainsy must be at least intelligent enough to know that so the accusation that his action is for political reason may have some truth in it, but at least somebody is doing something for the victims symbolically.
Those who continue to vote for Ranariddh and Nhek Bun Chhay should ask themselves why it would not be better to vote for the CPP instead since these 2 individuals serve the CPP very well with no other intention whatsoever to serve Cambodia and her people, but themselves.
Why do you vote for Mr. Hun's subordinates when you can vote for Mr. Hun himself and get a better reward from him directly instead of through these 2 reasonably useless individuals?

Koh Tral Island must not be forgotten

Why do Koh Tral Island, known in Vietnam as Phu Quoc, a sea and land area covering proximately over 30,000 km2 [Note: the actual land size of Koh Tral itself is 574 square kilometres (222 sq miles)] have been lost to Vietnam by whose treaty? Why don’t Cambodia government be transparent and explain to Cambodia army at front line and the whole nation about this? Why don't they include this into education system? Why?
Cambodian armies are fighting at front line for 4.6 km2 on the Thai border and what's about over 30,000km2 of Cambodia to Vietnam. Nobody dare to talk about it! Why? Cambodian armies you are decide the fate of your nation, Cambodian army as well as Cambodian people must rethink about this again and again. Is it fair?
Koh Tral Island, the sea and land area of over 30,000 square kilometres have been lost to Vietnam by the 1979 to 1985 treaties. The Cambodian army at front line as well as all Cambodian people must rethink again about these issues. Are Cambodian army fighting to protect the Cambodia Nation or protecting a very small group that own big lands, big properties or only protecting a small group but disguising as protecting the Khmer nation?
The Cambodian army at front lines suffer under rain, wind, bullets, bombs, lack of foods, lack of nutrition and their families have no health care assistance, no securities after they died but a very small group eat well, sleep well, sleep in first class hotel with air conditioning system with message from young girls, have first class medical care from oversea medical treatments, they are billionaires, millionaires who sell out the country to be rich and make the Cambodian people suffer everyday.
Who signed the treaty 1979-1985 that resulted in the loss over 30,000 km2 of Cambodia??? Why they are not being transparent and brave enough to inform all Cambodians and Cambodian army at front line about these issues? Why don't they include Koh Tral (Koh Tral size is bigger than the whole Phom Phen and bigger than Singapore [Note: Singapore's present land size is 704 km2 (271.8 sq mi)]) with heap of great natural resources, in the Cambodian education system?
Look at Hun Sen's families, relatives and friends- they are billionaires, millionaires. Where did they get the money from when we all just got out of war with empty hands [in 1979]? Hun Sen always say in his speeches that Cambodia had just risen up from the ashes of war, just got up from Year Zero with empty hands and how come they are billionaires, millionaires but 90% of innocent Cambodian people are so poor and struggling with their livelihood every day?
