A Message from SRP MP Mu Sochua:
"Free and fair election is about protection of citizens' right to make informed choice of their representatives. The integrity, independence and neutrality of the national election committee play key role in setting up the level playing field for all competitors and illegible voters in this process- one of the steps to building democracy.
Cambodia stands a chance because local electoral groups, human rights organizations, and trade unions are active in making electoral reforms happen.
But the main challenge is the will of the ruling party to show their commitment to true democracy. The final report of the EU observation mission in Cambodia in 2008 reveals the main shortfalls of the electoral process and recommendations are clear for remedy http://aceproject.org/ero-en/regions/asia/KH/cambodia-final-report-national-assembly-elections.
This interview puts out again, the challenge to reforms and the different possible scenarios should reforms fail, before the 2012 local elections and the 2013 general elections.
It is our vote, it is our right, it is our responsibility to defend it together. Mass demonstration is part of freedom of expression that must be protected.

The SRP is looking for a political resolution to guarantee the return of opposition leader Sam Rainsy back to Cambodia so that he may participate in the upcoming 2013 general election.
SRP official warned that, as its last choice, the SRP will hold a protest to air its demand along public streets so that Sam Rainsy can return back during the election.
Opposition leader Sam Rainsy is currently living in self-exile in France after the sCambodian court sentenced him for more than 10 years of jail time for criticizing the border problem between Cambodia and Vietnam
A CPP MP used to warn opposition leader Sam Rainsy, telling him that he cannot return back to Cambodia unless he stops defaming the Phnom Penh regime, otherwise, Sam Rainsy will have to face jail first.

If there is only one fair election in Cambodia without cheating and bullying from CPP Hun Sen. Mr Sam Rainsy will win the election for sure.

If khmer don't have unity, the outside world will sit and laugh at us and devalue us as an incompatable society...now we don't want to be degrated in anyway because we all are human being who need to be respected and valued upon. So, try to promote our dignity by caring, understanding and respect for one another.
Please, I urge all khmer to come together as one...I live in another country and I can see why they are successful and why we are not..because we devalue our own people and allow others to take advantage of us and of our downfall. Please, try to learn from their success and that success is the best revenge. Living in another man's land is not the same feeling that is why they knew this and they would not want their people to go through such impact and so we can follow their foot steps for the best interests of our society as well, won't we. We oversea really missed home and know that our gov't are still too weak. what we need is change for the better, so that we all feel at home again...

Koh Tral Island must not be forgotten

Why do Koh Tral Island, known in Vietnam as Phu Quoc, a sea and land area covering proximately over 30,000 km2 [Note: the actual land size of Koh Tral itself is 574 square kilometres (222 sq miles)] have been lost to Vietnam by whose treaty? Why don’t Cambodia government be transparent and explain to Cambodia army at front line and the whole nation about this? Why don't they include this into education system? Why?
Cambodian armies are fighting at front line for 4.6 km2 on the Thai border and what's about over 30,000km2 of Cambodia to Vietnam. Nobody dare to talk about it! Why? Cambodian armies you are decide the fate of your nation, Cambodian army as well as Cambodian people must rethink about this again and again. Is it fair?
Koh Tral Island, the sea and land area of over 30,000 square kilometres have been lost to Vietnam by the 1979 to 1985 treaties. Who signed the treaty 1979-1985 that resulted in the loss over 30,000 km2 of Cambodia??? Why they are not being transparent and brave enough to inform all Cambodians and Cambodian army at front line about these issues? Why don't they include Koh Tral (Koh Tral size is bigger than the whole Phom Phen and bigger than Singapore [Note: Singapore's present land size is 704 km2 (271.8 sq mi)]) with heap of great natural resources, in the Cambodian education system?
Look at Hun Sen's families, relatives and friends- they are billionaires, millionaires. Where did they get the money from when we all just got out of war with empty hands [in 1979]? Hun Sen always say in his speeches that Cambodia had just risen up from the ashes of war, just got up from Year Zero with empty hands and how come they are billionaires, millionaires but 90% of innocent Cambodian people are so poor and struggling with their livelihood every day?

- We all know that the key supporters of CPP are China and VN..Seek any countries that can put the persuade China or VN at some points..(It is pointless to seek support from Norway, Finland...China just look at these countries politically as a joke)
- Keep status quo on border issue: Nobody in Cambodia care much about it, seriously, what they care is MAKING MONEY...Show those young people how the job can be created..don't just blah blah..

i think sam rainsy and his group might have the right idea; however, their approach and their strategy is so weak as if they don't know how to go about doing it. well, running away to hide overseas is one example khmer people see him as being weak and ineffective. it also shows that a person may have a good idea or good education, etc, but making it happen or being proactive is another thing! once you start mixing it together or failed with the way you do thing or your approach, once people see that, your good reputation is out the window, meaning people lose confidence in you because you don't know how to work with people or you have no people skill! being a leader, you bet that having people skill is part of the qualification or the charisma of a leader, but if you lack that, then ask yourself whether you are a good leader or just someone's else puppet, you know! i say get smartened up and be cleverer and educated about it all, really! without incorporating people skill or social skill, forget it, you're not a good leader, ok!

You are correct! Cambodian people suffer today because of opportunitics politicians that have two heads one for CPP side and other one for Opposition side.
