But, if someone wrote that ‘Srok Khmer Is Dying.’ e.g. by a famous poem of Spean Tep, oh man, it generates only 57 comments. Why is that?

This is what i say something wrong with khmer. We don't know what is the most important to protect first? Yes, in deed, khmer language will die when youn control srok khmer. Most khmer in Cambodia start to speak Viet language already. you don't know that.
It generated so much interests because it was written by Theary Seng. Her supporters want to defend her, while her detractors want to slap her. This is the reason. A rebuttal written by Mr. Lim Sovannarith did not generate much interests.
Fist of all, a letter of opinion is not a contest of popularity. Some opions spawn more contreveries than others, thus provoking numerous reactions from the readers, that’s all. The fact that an opinion creates more rersponses than another is not neccessarily an indication that readers value the former than the latter.
The important point to take away is that when you express your opinion you should do so based on your true principle and conviction, rather than just trying to gain some spotlight or attentions.
If you truely care about Srok Khmer, take pride in your work and do it to the best of your ability.

It is not suprise that Khmer want to Speak other language than Khmer language because they feel inferior to speak Khmer. Why? Because Khmer is not a good image for anybody want to associate with. As I remember when I was in High school in the US, there was a few Koun Khmers that came to the US just one year before me, but they don't want to speak Khmer event though when they speak English, I couldn't understand them either. Every time I speak Khmer to them, they just say, I don't understand what you are saying!
When I volunteer to work in Cambodia. Event the elitist that came from the Sihanouk regime or the Lon Nal regime didn't want to speak Khmer either. They all either speak Franch or English! Which just make the Khmer people who speak khmer to feel more inferior. Beside, now, if you walk in the market, more people either speak Chinese or Vietnamese, thus, Khmer language is not event the primary language speaking in the social urban areas! Thus, how can anyone want to speak, event the Khmer themselves do not want to speak Khmer. And in the poltical market, the language that exchange in this market in either in English or in Franch! So how can the Khmer language can be use either in the commerce market or the political market, if the Khmer language does not bring them any tangible or intangible benefit?????????

I used to experience and feel the same way as 9:15PM when I first came to the West, but that did not deter me from keep practicing my Khmer language. Now it pays off. When I converse with my friends or other Khmers oversea, sometimes I quote them a proverb in Khmer and it makes me feel great that I can converse with them intelligently in foreign languages and our native one.
9:28pm, this 9:15pm, I agreed with you. I was indeed feel inferior at that time. I remember they were excluding me from playing roller skate with them. They talk in English and they started to laught...I was crying and stop trying to playing them. While my parents wouldn't allow us to speak in English at home...not event the word "OK". My parents were really strick! But I'm glad that I can speak Khmer:~). Now I am learning to read Khmer, but I don't have enough patient to try to sound out the hair and the legs together. I definitely need some khmer who could teach the basic Khmer on how to sound out those hair and legs together.
it shows cambodia changed and people don't buy into rumors, outdated thinking, and of course they are selective with choices. and it shows people aren't that interested in politics, especially one that is less than honest, one that is hypocritical and one that is outdated and using race card, etc, ok!
people in cambodia have more choices to pick from and who they want to vote for, put in office, etc... the end of era for outdated thinking is history now. life goes on with or without bad people trying to tell others what is or is not! people are more in tune with the reality in cambodia, i think!
and don't forget there are a lot of tourists in cambodia, too, so what one hear on the streets may be just a group of tourists passing by, doesn't mean anything.
it shows people are people! and people don't necessarily like biased opinion or politics by some radical group of losers!

Nobody cares about Cambodia anymore since its culture, beauty and country is unknown to the rest of the world. Thailand has absorbed all of Khmer culture and presented it at Miss.Universe and does a good job at promoting Thai culture, country and beauty. While us lame Khmer's just sit on our lazy ass and rot and soon become extinct and no one would care if Thai and viet invaded all of Cambodia and they would be like Cambodia who? Either Cambodia joins Miss.Universe and be known or become extinct forever. Our Khmer ancesotrs must be ashamed and embarrassed at us lame Khmer's descendent by not doing a damn thing to promote our Khmer culture and evolve it. No wonder Thai culture, Thai food and anything Thai is popular due to Khmer's being so lame at everything!!!

Why don't you get off your lazy ass and become miss Universe on behalf of Cambodian people? Why don't you do it? I am sure you are beautiful enough to be Miss Universe! If you are lame, don't blaim others Khmers as being lame. I have come and meet many fantastic Khmer people that they are care and share their life for better Khmer people and her country. For a change, maybe you can think about good Khmer people. And that you can start with yourself. Don't you think that you are a good Khmer?
the older generation of elite or ruling class khmer do show they are ashame to talk in khmer. they all seem to prefer talking in french or english, and they feel ashame to speak in khmer. i'm glad mr. hun sen and present khmer gov't officialls all prefer to speak in khmer for a change. i don't like the old generation of ruling khmer people, they chose foreign language over khmer language. shame on them! i think all khmer leaders should speak in khmer all the time, even on the international stage because that's what interpretors and translators are there for, khmer people and khmer people shouldn't be ashame to speak khmer language again! next time, if they speak in foreign language, i'll tell them what's wrong, don't you speak khmer language? what is there to be ashamed of speaking in khmer? what kind of role model are they setting for younger khmer! no wonder stupid KR killed most of them during their brutal rule! there ought to be khmer law that requires all khmer leaders to talk or speak in khmer language when it's not essential to speak in french or english, really! i like the current hun sen administration a lot partly because they all prefer to speak in our beautiful khmer language all the time without shame, etc, you know!

cambodia prefers strong man or strong woman! we don't want or don't need weak man or weak lady for our leaders, ok! we want and need iron fist leader(s), man or woman, doesn't matter their gender, ok! out go the ineffective and noncompetent and the weak! we need and want someone who can do the job well and who can also handle the pressure and the critic, etc, you know! cambodia must reform and start anew as in a new paradigm shift or thinking shift, ok!

that's true, political geography and religion and people can all change, but the language do not change much, except evolving it. everything else may change, but language is not changed, but evolved with time, ok! know the difference! and it is ok for our khmer language to evolve, you know! all language of the world do evolve with time, so does our khmer language in that sense, you know god bless the khmer language always.
another thing too, it's called controversial issue, that's why you have a lot of people talking about it!
