CAMBODIA'S OPPOSITION WELCOMES UNITED NATIONS CALL FOR POLITICAL RECONCILIATION

CPP Must Implement Steps to Improve the Electoral System

Cambodian opposition leader Sam Rainsy has welcomed the call by the United Nations human rights envoy Surya Subedi for reconciliation between his party and the ruling CPP in the interests of democracy.

Subedi said during his six-day visit to Cambodia that a concerted effort towards building bridges by the government and the opposition would strengthen the process of democratization.

Echoing the findings of the European Union observers in 2008, Subedi said that the government needs to take steps to ensure that free and fair elections take place next year and in 2013. He added that he was particularly concerned about political parties being denied access to the mass media, as well as allegations that civil servants, the military and police have taken part in political campaigning using
government resources.

Subedi will make specific recommendations on how to improve the country's electoral system. Refusal by the Hun Sen government to accept these recommendations would render the coming elections meaningless.

In that event the international community must refuse to send observers to monitor the elections -- there is no point in watching a foregone conclusion unfold.

Foreign governments and lenders must step up pressure on the Hun Sen government to deliver meaningful democracy.

The risk of losing international recognition and financing will push the government to improve the electoral process and give Cambodians a chance of expressing their will.

Sam Rainsy, the leader of Cambodia's largest opposition party, is living in exile in France to avoid being sent to prison on trumped up political charges. His presence in Cambodia before 2013 is necessary to ensure a serious challenge to Hun Sen and to render the elections credible.

Sam Rainsy confirms that his party is willing to respond positively to the appeal for reconciliation from the United Nations and hopes that the CPP will also show the goodwill that is necessary to achieving democracy in Cambodia.

Justice will not fall from the sky for us.

We have to fiercely fight for it.

And Vietnam will not let Cambodia to live peacefully unless we fight hard against this devil monster Vietnam.

Don't confuse with the fake peace that we have right now. This peace will lead to Khmer people become a minority in our own country. Look at the mass influx of Vietnamese into Cambodia.

This is Vietnam game: Vietnam does not hit Cambodia with war right now but Vietnam hits Cambodia with the deployment of Vietnamese people to take over Cambodia.

So, to survive, we must get rid of Ah Kwack puppet government which has followed strictly all Vietnam's orders.

Is it right that Ah Kwack’s government defy the Paris accord and implement the bilateral treaties between Cambodia and Vietnam?

Look at the result of that bilateral treaties:

Koh Trol, Koh Krarchalk Sess, border encroachment on both land and sea, use Khmer 3 provinces to serve Vietnam, massive land concession to Vietnam, lease Khmer's soul Angkor Wat, catastrophic destruction of natural resource, mass influx of Vietnamese, etc...

So, when will Ah Kwack government wake up?

When will Khmer people are able to remove this puppet Yuon's slave from power?

glad to see the international communities are encouraging khmer to unite, not divide. in the past, it seemed like foreigners were backing or support the renegade group, now, more and more international communities are encouraging khmer to work together, cooperate, unite, etc... that is a real, good change not just with cambodia but with the international communities as well. god bless cambodia.

I believe Mr. Sam Rainsy will be allowed to return to Cambodia in late May or early June 2013 a month or so before general election, therefore he won't have enough time to organize and the CPP could win again. This will be the Viet/CPP stategy. Wait and see.

A prosperous nation is the nation that follows United Nation's rules and recommendations. A nation that does not respect UN's policy will suffer an isolation and unabated poverty. The leaders, please stop being obsessed about your own greed and pay attention to our poor people who are suffering daily. We were given a chance to be born a human being in this life. Thus, it is our moral duty to cherish life of our native countrymen.

The government defied the 1991 Paris peace accord is fine.

The government gave and ratified Koh Trol to Vietnam is fine.

The government allowed Vietnamese to settle in Cambodia at will and destroyed almost all Khmer natural resource is fine.

But when a Khmer nationalist removed a junk post borber mark inside Cambodia, that person is a traitor and must serve jail time.

These animal leaders will lead Khmer to Khmer without Country.
