The destruction of Borei Keila community on 3 January and the manner in which this act of grave violation of human rights by the government was conducted is total déjà vu.

It is the usual main reason the prime minister signs an agreement with a company directly connected to his party senators, members of parliament and his own family.
Take it or leave it
The people are informed only after the agreement is signed. Any form of protest is met with threat of arrest and of actual arrest.
Under the pretest that the people have no official documents, they must accept the government offer: move to a new location and take a token amount of cash and a few kilos of rice, soy sauce and salt.
Day of demolition
- Step 1: Truck loads of police arrive with hired youth with special arm band
- Step 2: people panic, fight back
- Step 3: police use of force - electric batons, tear gas, guns
- Step 4: arrests of strong protesters even of children
- Step 5: detention and charges by court
- Step 6: company excavators crush what the hired youth have demolished
- Step 7: new fence put up - private property. Any trespassing is a crime
When asked for explanation, the typical answer from authorities: "Ask my superior. I am here to execute order from the top"
Déjà vu: "Ask Anka Leu" 2 million Cambodians killed by the Khmer Rouge
Mission accomplished.

In Khmer Rouge regime was not like this. Anka did not commited like this, like new Hun Sen era. I wish it could go back to Khmer Rouge regime again.

Mu Sochua is right in her article.
Hun Sen uses the same tactic used by Vietnam to suppress its own protesters by using uneducated hired youth.
In Vietnam they use thugs known as militia to kick and beat anyone who dares to protest against the ruling government and they make it look like these are ordinary people who love the regime.
The only way to stop or at least reduce such abuses of power on the part of the PM and his business cronies is the country-wide awakening of the ordinary Khmer citizens to condemn openly such an act.
Unfortunately Cambodian people tend to ignore such an issue if they are not directly affected in the short run and lend no hands to their neighbours who are affected.
If the ordinary people in the country do help through public outcry and demonstrations, especially the students, then perhaps some good CPP members and military officials within the government would be bold enough to topple this cruel PM.
This is just like in the 60-70s when Norodom Sihanouk was overthrown by his own generals with strong student demonstration to support such act.
The only people that can topple Hun Sen is those within the rank and file of his government who still have enough conscience to say to themselves that enough is enough!
