Some of the former residents of Borei Keila are now living in Srah Po village, Phnom Bat commune, Ponhea Loeu district, Kandal province, after the Phnom Penh authority used violence to chase them out of Phnom Penh on 04 January 2012.

The following photos were taken on 08 January 2012 by RFA’s Chivita.

Children are playing at the makeshift shelters for Borei Keila residents in Srah Po village, Phnom Bat commune.
A man is building a makeshift shelter to protect his cane juice stall.
The majority of the evictees do not have anything to cover their temporary shelters at all. Some use plastic mats, fabric or plastic to cover themselves.
Some have nothing to cover or protect themselves at all.
This is what their makeshift shelters look like: 4 poles and a sheet.

Some of the villagers receive a plastic tarp sheet.
This elderly woman said that when the cops chased her out of Borei Keila, she was not able to take anything with her, not even a cooking pot.
The residents complain about their many needs, in particular, the lack of water.

Since they have not received a permanent plot to live on, education for children has stopped altogether.
The first residents who volunteered to move out receive a plot of 5-by-12-meter. Some of these residents have the chance to build a better looking (sic!) makeshift shelter.
Sunset on a temporary shelter belonging to a former Borei Keila resident located near the entrance to the new village.

they're lucky to get a plot of land here near o'dong. all they have to do is build it up with markets, schools and pave streets, houses, etc. just develop the area so it will look more attractive to live, etc, you know!

o'dong is a good location between kompong chhnang and phnom penh via national route #5, good location for these people, really!

Well...Being dirt poor in Cambodian society is a death sentence! The action by AH HUN SEN Vietcong slave regarding the eviction is a clear message to all dirt poor Cambodian people that if they are poor and they deserve no help but to be homeless and to die!

It seems that AH HUN SEN forgot his past! If the Vietcong didn't save his fucken arse and making him their fucken puppet and where would AH HUN SEN be right now? These dirt poor Cambodian people deserve all the help the same way the Vietcong help AH HUN SEN to be somebody!

If AH HUN SEN doesn't want to help dirt poor Cambodian people then at least AH HUN SEN gave these dirt poor Cambodian people a choice! Tell me what choice do these dirt poor Cambodian people have?

AH HUN SEN being a leader fail Cambodian people!
