The photography as a usable process goes back to the 1820s with the development of chemical photography. The first permanent photo etching was an image produced in 1822 by the French inventor Nicéphore Niépce, but it was destroyed by a later attempt to duplicate it.
So the technology would not come to Cambodia maybe at least another 10 years.
At the bottom of the Wat Phnom Photo, it is written in red color: 1806. I will post another one that you can see the letters in red color at the bottom of the photo.

And the year 1806 is not in 18th century, it is in 19th century.

i was thinking the same thing! what 1806? Daguerrotype wasn't invented yet! more like 1906
it’s ok. there is only 100 years off, no big deal.
