More than 100 Pursat villagers who had lost faith in the court system and government invoked ancestor spirits and called on Buddha yesterday to help them resolve their land dispute, village representatives and an NGO spokesman said.
Village representative Kuch Veng said the group, from Krakor district’s Kbal Trach, Chhoeu Tom and Ansar Chambak communes, celebrated a traditional ceremony in Kbal Trach.
Proceedings had included monks being asked to bless villagers who opposed Pheapimex Group’s development of their land, he said.
“We asked the ancestor spirits to insult the company and the people involved in taking over the villagers’ land.”
In 2000, Pheapimex, which is owned by Choeng Sopheap, was granted 315,000 hectares of land in Kampong Chhnang and Pursat provinces as an economic land concession.
Village representative Duok Sary said the villagers had asked spirits to help their friends detained in prison in relation to land disputes.
“We want the company to drop the charges against these villagers,” he said.
When contacted by the Post, deputy provincial governor and company representative Ty Kimtok denied it was him.
“You have called the wrong number,” he said. “I am a cook in Battambang province.”
Ouch Leng, land reform project co-ordinator for the Cambodian Centre for Human Rights, said the government should ask why the villagers had turned to spirits for help.
“Villagers’ activity shows they have lost confidence in the court system and in government officers – so they have to ask Buddha for help,” Ouch Leng said.

The corrupt government does not enforce the law and keeps taking side with the crooked people.
The people have no other choice but to pray.

While the poor have so little to eat, they rather offer the so little they have to monks. But the problems are bigger than their ancestors can fight for them.
If they pray to Buddha then He will not break His oath to give up everything to end the sufferings.
I strongly believe they should pray to GOD, the Creator.
PSALM 3:7
"O LORD; save me, O my God: for thou hast smitten all mine enemies upon the cheek bone; thou hast broken the teeth of the ungodly."
and PSALM 91.
“He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High will rest in the shadow of the Almighty.
I will say of the LORD, “He is my refuge and my fortress, my God, in whom I trust.”
Surely he will save you from the fowler’s snare and from the deadly pestilence.
He will cover you with his feathers, and under his wings you will find refuge; his faithfulness will be your shield and rampart.
You will not fear the terror of night, nor the arrow that flies by day, nor the pestilence that stalks in the darkness, nor the plague that destroys at midday.
A thousand may fall at your side, ten thousand at your right hand, but it will not come near you.
You will only observe with your eyes and see the punishment of the wicked.
If you make the Most High your dwelling— even the LORD, who is my refuge-then no harm will befall you, no disaster will come near your tent.
For he will command his angels concerning you to guard you in all your ways; they will lift you up in their hands, so that you will not strike your foot against a stone.

He will call upon me, and I will answer him; I will be with him in trouble, I will deliver him and honor him.

BOUDDHA CANNOT HELP YOU IF YOU ALL DO NOT HELP YOURSELF FIRST.
THIS IS MY RECOMMENDATION: YOU MUST CALL ON ALL CAMBODIANS TO STOP VOTING FOR CPP. THIS WAY YOU CAN REMOVE HUN SEN AND HIS CRONIES FROM POWER AND YOU WILL NO LONGER SUFFER FROM ALL KIND OF TRAGEDY.
The only way that these villagers can protect their property is to arms them self.
There is no law nor god can help them!

Your Cambodians never prayed to GOD but to Evils only, and why do think God cannot help those who pray Him for deliverance?
If they prayed to Buddha, then they asked Buddha to destroy and kill their enemy which contradicts His teachings.
May be by now you should know that the empire you ancestors created is about to be taken away from you all for good.
God works through Viet Congs to destroy Cambodia. More than half or Viet Cong population believe in God. They pray for protection and for victory and so they got.
Instead of mocking God, look at your tiny miserable country.
DUMB Khmer keep praying to god, because he can give you your land back but also vote for CPP. Because god is CPP.
