Some of tragic events, as the recent killing of the environment activist, Chut Wutty, incurred in Cambodia call for a reflection on the nature of the relationships between Government and Business in Cambodia.
A bulk of literature on the political economy has extensively emphasized the positive role of State in the economic and industrial development. The most prominent examples are Japan and South Korea. For the both countries, the relationships between State and business are productive in terms of economic and industrial development. The State as a Supreme body of the Nation designs structural policy to embark the country into a development path enabling to create jobs for people. And the private sector (companies), a kind of transmission belt of the Government,implements the industrial policy to conquer the world markets and bring foreign currencies that the country needs. The case of South Korea, some of the companies like Samsung become, in a pace of more than 30 years, the world champions and hold the leadership in their business.
What can we say about the nature of the relationships between politics and business in Cambodia?

It is sad and hurt to see another Khmer hero slain by the hand of hun sen's tycoon friend. This is not the end of it. Another Khmer hero will emerge to take Mr. Wuthy's place to carry on his legacy and work to defend our forest and to bring truth to the world about hun sen and his allies in destroying our natural resources.
