Phnom Penh – On 27 June 2102, the Appeal Court had decided that the sentence on the 13 BKL women will be reduced to 1 month and 3 days of jail time counting from the day of their arrest.
Report indicated that the 13 BKL women have all been released from Prey Sar jail already following the reduction of their sentence and their incarceration of 1 month and 3 days.
News reporters indicated that BKL residents who were prevented from marching to the Appeal Court exploded in joy after learning the appeal decision. The 13 BKL women said: “The Appeal Court provided us with fair sentence, quite contrary to what the Phnom Penh municipal court did when it unfairly sentenced us to 2 years and 6 months.”
