While discussing about SRP defectors who joined the CPP, Sam Rainsy took the opportunity to address CPP activists. In a communiqué issued on Saturday 14 June, Sam Rainsy issued statements aiming to convince CPP activists.
According to Sam Rainsy, Hun Sen, the CPP vice-president and also the prime minister, actively calls on SRP party members to join the CPP rank. In exchange, these defectors receive money or positions in the government. According to Sam Rainsy also, the CPP allegedly offered $2,000 to (ordinary) SRP defectors, and up to $200,000 to high-ranking SRP defectors, along with a position as advisor to the government or to the prime minister.
“They highly value the SRP defectors who join the CPP. But, the CPP leaders do not think about you, the ordinary CPP members, to offer you money or to promote the CPP village chiefs, commune councilors, to these high positions,” Sam Rainsy wrote. He continued by saying: “this action by the CPP shows that it does not value you who served them for a very long time. Money is used to serve the personal interest of the party leaders, without ever giving attention to your sympathy towards them.”
Sam Rainsy also called on the CPP members “who love the nation and justice” to join the SRP in order to fulfill the 3 goals of his party: creating jobs, lowering the price of goods, free healthcare.
