The SRP has removed Kieng Vang from his position as SRP MP from Kampot province on Friday because he left the party to join Funcinpec. Opposition leader Sam Rainsy told local news media that his party removed Kieng Vang from his MP position because he was working for the Funcinpec party. Sam Rainsy said that Kieng Vang defected to join Funcinpec and that there are many proofs to that effect. Eng Chhay Eang, SRP Secretary-general, said that SRP already asked to replace Kieng Vang at the National Assembly with Van Dara, a member of the SRP party council from Kampot province. However, Kieng Vang said that his removal was not right and was done with a clannish spirit. Kieng Vang was a former Funcinpec official who defected to the SRP, he is now returning to his old nest.
