MADDOX JOLIE-PITT IS A BRAINY CHILD

10th March 2010

Daily Star (UK)

NOT only does Maddox Jolie-Pitt have the world’s best-looking parents, he’s also got the brains of a mini-Einstein.

Angelina Jolie, 34, and Brad Pitt, 46, have been raving to pals that their adopted eight-year-old from Cambodia is intellectually gifted and has a high IQ.

A Hollywood source said: “Maddox is amazingly smart and loves books and tinkering with gadgets.

He is a gifted painter and sketch artist, takes piano lessons, does well in football and speaks fluent English, French, Spanish and his native Khmer.”

Yep, we feel slightly inadequate.

ANGELINA JOLIE knew she was destined to become a mum during her first trip to Cambodia - because she flew out of the country thinking she had left something behind.

The actress insists she still doesn't believe in fate, but there was something that lured her back to Cambodia, where she met and fell for her first adopted child, Maddox.

She tells WENN, "I went to that country and left that country feeling like I'd left something behind. I went back to that country on a humanitarian mission and was playing with blocks with a little kid and felt, 'My son is here.'

"It was the strangest feeling. I woke up one day and they were going to introduce me to a kid and I wondered how I would feel, and the moment I saw him I knew I was his mother.

"I can't explain it and I don't know why I chose that country but it was absolutely meant to be."

There have been reports that Angelina Jolie is adamant on moving the Jolie-Pitt family to France. When on holiday there, the pair reportedly looked at several estates. But Angelina has revealed that she would prefer an even more distant country, far away from the United States.

Where does she want to live? "Not in Hollywood, that’s for sure," she tells the French magazine Public. Angelina says she wants to move to Maddox's native country of Cambodia in ten years and cover her body in tattoos. “I’m sure everyone would leave me in peace over there,” she says.

But if Jolie wishes to be left alone why does she continue to take on multiple movie roles and attend red carpet events? Some observers don't buy the idea that Jolie wishes to settle down anywhere. She seems to love the lifestyle of constant travel and that has reportedly caused a lot of problems with her boyfriend Brad Pitt.

Her globe-trotting lifestyle is causing tension, reports In Touch Weekly. Even though Brad, 43, wants to settle in LA with the kids, Angie told Public magazine her dream is to live on an isolated farm in Cambodia.

A tiny village in Southeast Asia is miles away from the modernist architecture and pampered lifestyle Brad is used to. And he’s right to have concerns — not just for himself, but for their kids. “It breaks Brad’s heart that the kids are always jet-lagged,” the confidant adds. “They need routines and regular bedtimes. They desperately crave stability.”

Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt's son Maddox celebrated his birthday with a two-day, boys-only party at the weekend.

The birthday boy - who turned six on Sunday - was joined by a group of young friends for a military-themed party in the garden of Brad and Angelina's oceanfront home in Santa Barbara, California.

Maddox and his young friends were all dressed in army combat uniforms and had camouflage make-up painted on their faces as they enjoyed action-packed activities including water pistol fights and pelting each other with water bombs.

Brad, 42, also joined in the fun wearing an army outfit and helmet.

Maddox - who was adopted from Cambodia - is the oldest of the couple's four children.

Brad and Angelina also have adopted three-year-old Vietnamese son, Pax, two-year-old Ethiopian daughter Zahara, and 14-month-old biological daughter Shiloh.

Earlier this week, it was revealed Brad, Angelina and Shiloh will appear on a new Australian stamp.

A picture of the 'Mr. and Mrs. Smith' co-stars and their youngest daughter - which featured on the front cover of A New Idea magazine shortly after Shiloh's birth last year - has been made into a 50 cent stamp.

ANGELINA JOLIE attempts to harden her son MADDOX's feet whenever they return to his native Cambodia - by making him walk around without shoes on.

The actress admits her eldest son isn't always happy to go native when he goes 'home', but Jolie thinks it's important young Maddox lives the Cambodian experience.

She explains, "When we go to Cambodia I always say, 'Take our shoes off,' and we walk across the rocks.

"There was a time he would whine about little things like that and I'll say, 'Everybody in Cambodia can walk with bare feet. They get tough Cambodian feet.' "So the two of us will take our shoes off and walk across the rocks and go eat a cricket."

Angelina Jolie plans to adopt Vietnamese child

HANOI, Vietnam (AP) - Angelina Jolie has filed papers to adopt a Vietnamese child, the country's top adoption official said Friday.

A U.S. adoption agency representing the 31-year-old actress filed the papers at Vietnam's International Adoption Agency, said Vu Duc Long, the agency's director.

''She just filed the papers this week,'' Long said.

Jolie and her partner, Brad Pitt, have three children: 5-year-old son Maddox, adopted from Cambodia; 2-year-old daughter Zahara, adopted from Ethiopia; and another daughter, Shiloh, who was born to the couple in May.

Long would not name the U.S. adoption agency working with Jolie, who applied to adopt as a single parent.

A phone message left with Jolie's Los Angeles-based manager, Geyer Kosinski, wasn't immediately returned.

Jolie and Pitt, 43, made a surprise visit to Vietnam at Thanksgiving, when they visited the Tam Binh orphanage, on the outskirts of Ho Chi Minh City.

Their pictures were splashed across the front page of Vietnamese newspapers, showing the couple cruising around Ho Chi Minh City on a motorbike.

Nguyen Van Trung, the director of the Tam Binh orphanage, declined to comment. He said he was awaiting the papers from the International Adoption Agency.
