SRP MPs sent an official letter to Hun Sen, asking him to confirm the presence of the former Thai prime minister in Cambodia.
In a letter dated Wednesday 11 Feb sent through the president of the National Assembly, SRP MPs asked Hun Sen to confirm the presence of Thaksin Shinawatra on Cambodian territory.
In a communiqué dated Saturday 14 Feb, SRP MPs recalled that, according to Article 96 of the Constitution, Hun Sen must provide an answer within a 9-day period.
On 7 Feb, during the visit of the Thai minister of defense to Phnom Penh, Hun Sen already said that Thaksin Shinawatra was not on Koh Kong Island.
On 5 Feb, Thai news media reported about an upcoming meeting between the former Thai PM and a group of Thai pro-Thaksin “Pheu Thai” MPs on the Koh Kong Island.
“Payap, Thaksin’s brother, is in charged of organizing the meeting,” Thai MP Sakda Kongphet told “The Nation.”
SRP MPs also sent a separate letter to Hun Sen, asking him to take measures against government officials whose wrongdoings are exposed by the report issued by the Global Witness NGO regarding the management of mineral and oil resources. On 5 Feb, the Cambodian embassy in London denied all the information contained in the Global Witness report.
