Senator Thach Setha, Executive Director of the Khmer Kampuchea Krom Community, KKC, gives a keynote address during the historic national mourning ceremony where France ceded Khmer territory to Vietnam on June 4, B.E.2493, A.D.1949 until today.
Kampuchea Krom is formerly part of Cambodia.

This year Phnom Penh City Hall denied Khmer Krom access to public square to organize the Buddhist ceremony. They had to hold it at the former SRP HQs.

Phnom Penh Municipality denies KKC's Venue Request to organize the 63rd Annual Kampuchea Krom Commemoration

Source: Khmer  Kampuchea Krom Community

The Phnom Penh Municipality denies the venue request, to be held in front of Wat Botumvatei, of the Khmer Kampuchea Krom Community, KKC, to organize the 63rd Annual Kampuchea Krom Commemoration, where colonial France ceded Khmer land, Kampuchea Krom, to Vietnam on June 4, B.E.2493, A.D.1949 to continue colonizing her until today and an Offering Buddhist Ceremony to 1949 Buddhist Monks in order to honor heroic Khmer Buddhist monks, heroic emperors, heroic kings, and heroes, heroines, and braved armed forces personnel and the courageous unknowns.

This is a serious violation of the fundamental rights of the Khmer citizens. The motto of Cambodia is Nation, Religion (Buddhism), and King.

Every year the king of Cambodia sends His Highest Royal Representative to preside over this auspicious Buddhist ceremony since B.E.2544, A.D.2000.

This ceremony is to remind the Khmers of Kampuchea Krom and all Khmers in Cambodia and worldwide to remember their history so that we do not walk the same path.

Is there patriotism in Phnom Penh City Hall?

Does Phnom Penh City Hall respect the Buddhist monks and the king?

Are they serving the Cambodian nation?

Cambodia is a signatory to the Charter of the United Nations, U.N. Universal Declaration of Human Rights, other international covenants and treaties on human rights: International Covenant on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights and International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights and more.

KKC condemns Phnom Penh City Hall's Racial Discrimination against Khmer Krom Buddhist Monks and People

A Condemnation Statement of the Khmer Kampuchea Krom Organizations-Associations on the Phnom Penh City Hall for Racial Discrimation Against Khmer Krom Buddhist monks and people. PP City Hall Bans Khmer Krom from commemorating June 4, 1949 France gives Kampuchea Krom to Vietnam.

Saturday the 3rd Waxing Moon of Jeṭṭha BE2555, June 3, AD2011 Year of the Rabbit

STATEMENT

The Khmer Kampuchea Krom organizations and associations express our unhappiness and deploring the Phnom Penh City Hall authority for banning the Khmer Kampuchea Krom organizations-associations from organizing an Offering Buddhist Ceremony to 1949 monks in a public square. This ceremony receives a support and donation from the Khmer monarch by providing Their Highest Representative to preside over the ceremony every year without a miss.

Since [the new millennium] 2000, the Khmer Kampuchea Krom organizations and associations granted to organize the ceremony at the Field of Meru by the Royal Palace Ministry. On the contrary since Hon. Kep Chuktema becomes the Governor of Phnom Penh, our ceremony has been met with difficulty every year.

Phnom Penh City Hall's action is a serious religious right violation, racial discrimination on the Khmer Kampuchea Krom Buddhist monks and people, highly disrespectful upon the heroic Khmer Buddhist monks, heroic monarchies, heroes, heroines, heroic armed forces servicemen and women and highly disrespectful upon the king without a doubt.

The Khmer Kampuchea Krom organizations-associations condemn the Phnom Penh Governor in the strongest language for not complying with the Constitution, the supreme law of Cambodia, numerous international religious rights treaties, sub-treaties and covenants and declaration on the elimination of all forms of racial discrimination.

Khmer Krom to commemorate the anniversary of the loss of Kampuchea Krom despite city ban

03 June 2011
Everyday.com.kh
Translated from Khmer by Soch

On Thursday, Thach Setha, President of the Khmer Krom Association, said that the Khmer Krom Association will hold a religious ceremony and will commemorate the 62nd anniversary of the loss of Kampuchea Krom on 04 June 2011 at the public park located in front of Botum Pagoda, in spite of the ban imposed by the Phnom Penh city hall. On 31 May, Kep Chuktema, the Phnom Penh city governor, issued a letter to Thach Setha, telling him that the city does not allow this commemoration because another Khmer Krom committee asked to hold this ceremony at the same location. Thach Setha said that the city is discriminating against Khmer Krom monks and people.

Cordialement,
