The opposition Sam Rainsy and Norodom Ranariddh parties said Wednesday that amended election laws and National Election Committee procedures would mean fair national elections in 2008 and prevent problems like those that occurred in April's commune ballot.
Opposition leaders have said they suffered on Election Day this year because voters were confused by procedures and were unable to cast their ballots.
"The job we will do for the 2008 national elections is that we have to have all measures for shaping the national institutions for the vote to be impartial," Mu Sochua, SRP secretary-general, said.
The ruling Cambodian People's Party swept the commune elections last month. The Sam Rainsy Party made modest gains but predicted winning more seats in parliament in 2008.
