Opposition leader Sam Rainsy pushed the National Election Committee (NEC) to organize a dissemination of information on the ongoing cleaning of the voter lists, as well as the voting registration which will take place in 2007.

In a letter dated 26 July 2007, Sam Rainsy asked that, although the various rules, orders, and directives regarding the ongoing cleaning of voter lists, and the voting registration conducted by the NEC are good, however, the actual application is lacking behind and is fraught with errors which could lead to a number of people being removed from the NEC voting list by mistake or by other intentions, and these people will lose their right to vote in the future.

Sam Rainsy stressed that in order to obtain a good and open operation, the NEC must organize a proper dissemination of information to inform the population in the entire country through various state broadcasting media, in particular through radio and television, in order to assure a proper “cleaning” of the voter lists, and for the voting registration to function smoothly.
