On Friday, several statements were issued to condemn the Preah Vihear province authority which used firearms, yesterday, to shoot and kill two Cambodian citizens, and injured 7 others during a police raid to put down the land dispute protest in O’Chheu Teal village.

Battambang SRP MP Eng Chhay Eang, who is also Vice-President of the National Authority for the Resolution of Land Dispute (NARLD), issued a statement condemning the killing of two villagers and the arrests and jailing of other villagers made by the Preah Vihear provincial authority.

Eng Chhay Eang called on all levels of the Cambodian authorities to end the use of violence in all resolutions, especially, when it involves land disputes. He asked them to find peaceful resolutions to these problems.

The Students’ Movement for Democracy (SMD) believes that Cambodia is currently turning into an autocratic regime, it is severely violating human rights, and that the action taken by the Cambodian authority is no different from what was happening in Burma recently. The SMD calls on the national and international community to help intervene to end these problems.

THE VILLAGERS ARE EX-SOLDIERs WHO HAVE BEEN ASKED or SUPPORTED BY RICH AND POWERFUL PEOPLE TO GRAP LANDS FOR THEM. BECAUSE THESE LAND IS GOING TO BE MORE OR LESS 1ha = 50,000-10,000 usd.

HOW CAN THIS POOR VILLAGES CAN DESTROYED MORE THAN 10KM long of forest?

IF YOU GO TO PREAH VIHEAR CASTLE, YOU WILL NOT WANT TO LOSE THE BEST GREEN VIEW FROM THE TOP. WE NEED TO PROTECT THIS NATURAL HERITAGE WITH ANY COST.

I can see that cambodians can only do buisness with lands grabbing when they need money.
They can't create industries in order to create jobs.
No brain!!!
So sad .. So bad...

It is not a new thing, this incident happens almost every week in Cambodia. Land grabbing and illegal evictions have become the landmark news on the headlines of Cambodian media. The government and the national assemmbly should create a real powerful independent body to deal with this chronic problem. Otherwise, Cambodia will become a kingdom of monsters or giants; whoever has sharp teeth will be fat, and the weaks will be dea.

Hey dude, more than 10km is from other sources(rfa.org). I had been there too, but few year ago.

They just want land for money, No doubt. lot of land are FREE to live but why they want to live close to this CASTLE? Money. They don't deserve to die, but we need to catch their supporters.

These people were violated the government's preservation, so the government joint arm forces just re-ocuppied areas who invaded by the poor cambodian people.

The Operation "Burn the House" "Dot Phteas" was successful liberated from the poor cambodian people. The government forces open fired to villagers killed 2, 9 wounded and 1 burned alive the in house fired.

Now the land is secured by the government arm forces, and burned the 312 families houses of the poor cambodian people were divergenced and lulled.

Well, Ah illegal Khmer-Yuon immigrants have to understand that they are not entitled to any free land. If they want land, they have to work, make money, and buy it. We can't afford to give away free land to every illegal immigrants. No one on this planet can.
