After Prime minister Hun Sen raised the issue of toning down the use of royal language at the National Assembly and the Senate, the NRP reacted to this idea of cancelling royal words by saying that this action is tantamount to wanting to eliminate the monarchy in Cambodia. Muth Chantha, NRP spokesman, told the Kampuchea Thmei newspaper that Hun Sen’s recent speech is a violation of the constitution. The motto of the kingdom is: Nation, Religion, King. This means that the country has a reigning king. Muth Chantha added that if Hun Sen wants to end the use of the royal language, this can only mean that Hun Sen wants to eliminate the monarchy in Cambodia. Khieu Kanharith, government spokesman, reacted to Muth Chantha, saying that Cambodia has a king who is not involved in politics, and the king respects the constitution. Khieu Kanharith added that what Muth Chantha said was a very serious misunderstanding because he did not reread the constitution one more time.

hunsen should close the chapter of the king and it language- so as him, his language- street language, and he should be jail for disrespect the king base on the constitution.

not necessarily true, unless the monarchy did something wrong against the law or something. plus, it would take vote to abolish monarchy, especially they dont' obey the laws or trouble-maker or what have you out there because the good monarchy is what cambodia need, not the other way around. plus, if royal members want to go in active politics, i think they should be like everyone else when comes to argument and disagreement, no special privileges for them. special people are only those who are handicapped like they called them in the western world. no body say that royal should not be in politics, however, they just have no more royal privileges when they join in politics. it is very simple to understand because that can interfere with decision making when you have to kneel down all the time as is the proper etiquette for a royalty, at least in khmer tradition. and that's not really good in politics, to say the least. it interferes with politicians' works! that's all.
this is a serious issue and ought to be discuss in detail profoundly at parliament meeting or something.
the bottom line is nobody is above the law. period!
i think they are only talking about in politics. so if some royalty are not interested in politics, that doesn't apply to them at all. they're talking about royalty in active politics only because not every royal family members are interested in politics. please know and understand the difference, here.
