CPP MP Cheam Yeap, the chairman of the National Assembly commission for economy and finance, said that he thanked the 4 US Congressmen who are concerned about the people of Cambodia more so than the Cambodian MPs and government. However, Cheam Yeap said that this condemnation cannot be accepted. The reason for this non-acceptance stems from the fact that [, for example,] regarding the accusation of threat, [Cheam Yeap is wondering] what action shows this threat against the opposition politicians in Cambodia? Cheam Yeap added: “As far as I know, a number of these gentlemen [US Congressmen] never even travel to Cambodia, therefore, they just listened to reports provided by individuals or the opposition party – because the opposition consider the US Congressmen as their parents and it reported everything [to these US Congressmen] in the past.” (sic!)
Cheam Yeap added that he believes that some of the points raised by the resolution indeed happen, but there were reasons for those. Furthermore, the opposition party and the CPP party are preserving and defending the honor, the amicability, the confidence and the votes cast by all the people in the country. “We see that the election victory stems from the people loving [us] and our historical achievements under the special leadership of Samdach Akkok Moha Sena Bat Dey Dek Cho Hun Xen, the prime minister, i.e., he turned Cambodia from a killing field into the current felicitous condition,” Cheam Yeap said.
Cheam Yeap added also: “Let me reply to this resolution submitted by the 4 (US) congressmen, please weigh in properly, don’t just listen to one side and then go on to provide an evaluation, it is not right. Put both of them on the scale, i.e. ask the ruling party, take the idea from the international committee to ask clearly about the information, then you can weigh in for the evaluation. Listening to the opposition report based on what they see, everything is bad, there is nothing good, i.e. [in] Cambodia, as soon as you open your eyes, everything is dark.”

i think mr. cheam yeap has a good point, here, really. please think about it instead of letting your hate, bias, dislike, jealousy, and other evil intention take over. cambodia has come a long way, and our country and khmer people don't need any more problem from extremist group of angried people. instead, we prefer words of encouragement, knowledge to reform our old system if it is so bad, but definitely, we don't need hate, bias, and trouble-makers, ok! please always remember that there are more to cambodia than you and i, really! this is a good awareness to have when dealing with my country cambodia, ok! of course, we welcome all encouragement, knowledge, new concept, etc, however cambodia and khmer people reserve the right to whether embrace it or selective about it. your country is not perfect, either. in fact, nobody is perfect for that matter. thank you.
In Cambodia, a person doesn't need to have good eye to see all kinds of crimes, most of which are commited by the government's powerful officials. This is a government of the cruel.
I agree with you no body perfect, but Hun Sen government never look after poor khmer people. Only people get abuse from the Leader and they all receiving suffering every days.
Most khmer people had not treat properly by their own goverment,they never any Right for themself, the goverment robe their Land and give Youn people and other, and where is the good resolution for khmer people. that is true in some way, however, i think we need to distinguish the past bad habit with the present reality, really. can't say that just because you found one bad apple, thus, you would assume that all apples are bad; it's just not the case anymore in cambodia. of course, there are one or two bad apples, so to speak, however, if they make afford to observe and investigate for ourselves, you will be surprise to see the opposite in cambodia. i think 10 or 20 years ago is not the same as today. yes, it was true allegation at one time, however, to assume that it is always the case in my country is unlearned, to say the matter. i thought in college, we were taught in critical thinking in order live and work in the real world. i think for some of us, this is not the case as we can see here, really. of course, we want cambodia to reform and be better as our people deserve better, however, being bias isn't going to help anybody, really. thank you.

so, you're saying that cambodia is all about vietnamese or youn? that is not smart. i think there ought to be a studies to prove this because all of my life, i always hear this kind of nationalistic paranoia, whether it is true, or not, we can't prove that. i think it was due to the past history because youn (vietnamese) did stole a huge chunk of khmer land, take the mekong delta region of khmer krom for example. so, i see you point because ever since, khmer people never can trust youn again. so, i think nowadays, it is different, given the world has been modernized and laws have been implement as it is not the dark ages anymore. yes, it will always be a painful history of cambodia. so, what to do about it now? i think as long as cambodia is becoming more educated and make khmer law as in the rule of law society, so, if we found any youn who are illegal immigrant and who are not assimilating into khmer way, etc, we should deport them back to where they come from. hey, the law is the law, this is not like the dark ages era where people stake claim or steal land from others, really. i think it help for khmer people to change some of our outdated or ancient thinking a bit, maybe just a bit, not to say we should get rid of our rich culture, tradition, customs and etiquette, etc..., but to require all any youn who live in cambodia must learn to speak khmer, must respect khmer way and khmer law, and must assimilate into khmer society, no exception. if we do this, it will make them think twice of illegally coming to settle in cambodia like their ancestors did in the past which stake claim to khmer krom territory. i think khmer people should wake up and use youn game to play against them. but i don't think it is like the dark ages again, though. that was all history now. we all can learn from history and from everyone e.g. friends, foes, stranger, familly, other people, etc, etc... really! maybe it's time for khmer people to adopt new thinking in order to beat youn of their dirty trick with khmer people. if they can do it, why can't we do the same to them, really!

My beloved brother or sister, I think you were way too young to understand the reality of brutality and cruelty that ah Youn Viet Cong has treated Khmer particularly,...Khmer Krom. I can tell the rest of my young adult life...and it will never end. Ah Youn is nothing but a crocodile..laying calmly but deadly. When it bites, it will never let go! classic example is Khmer Krom. It is very painful for me to even slightly think about the Viet Cong did to Khmer Krom. They rapped, tortured, killed, burned Khmer alive, stick a bamboo from one end to another, roasted Khmer alive, and shredded Khmer alive.

Every CPP members are not stupid. They are very clever, and only act stupid just to protect their interests. Corruption is everywhere from top to bottom. Our friend from 6:47AM doesn't want anybody says any anything bad about Cambodia. Should we give them encouragement and complement? Don't you see any thing at all? The more aid money they get the more corrupted they are. Isn't it shameful that foreigners care more about those poor cambodians than their leaders do?

Good one! Very encouraging comment. You have tried and I'm sure government officials reading your comments are happy that at least there are some people appreciated their effort. But it will take you lifetime to persuade the opposition and their supporters. You can't find enough reason to explain them because they have thousands of other reasons to support their stand as well. So let's just do what you think is right and let them do what they think is right. I love reading your exchanged comments, though, because it is generally in polite ways.

According to AH Cheam Yeap and Khmer Rouge supporters, in order to know about Cambodia, you have to travel to Cambodia.
For example, during the Democratic Kampuchea Pol Pot Khmer Rouge Regime, is it possible to travel to Cambodia and come back alive to the United States to tell the story about what the Khmer Rouge did to innocent Khmer peoples?
Another example, if the four congressmen arrive in Cambodia, is Hun Sen going to order Brigade 70 to grenade attack against innocent men, women and children while they are in Cambodia like on March 30, 1997?
