Court Issues Arrest Warrant for Sam Rainsy

By Chun Sakada, VOA Khmer
Original report from Phnom Penh
28 December 2009

Svay Rieng provincial court issued an arrest warrant for opposition leader Sam Rainsy on Monday, after he failed to appear at an arraignment in the provincial capital.

Sam Rainsy, who is facing charges of incitement and destruction of property related to a border incident in October, had requested a postponement of Monday’s hearing, claiming he was busy abroad.

Svay Rieng investigating judge Long Kespirum wrote that the request offered “no reason to postpone, so we cannot permit postponement.” The court issued the arrest warrant following the hearing Monday morning, Long Kespirum told VOA Khmer.

Sam Rainsy’s attorney, Choung Chou Ngy, said the decision was made at the discretion of the court.

Sam Rainsy, who had his parliamentary immunity suspended in November, is charged with allegedly leading a group of supporters to unearth markers from the ground in Chantrea district, where villagers said they worried about Vietnamese encroachment.

Two villagers facing destruction charges have been arrested, and three have gone into hiding. Sam Rainsy said on Friday he was fully responsible for the destruction of the markers, and he urged the court to drop the charges against the villagers.

The destruction charges carry a sentence of up to three years in prison. Incitement carries a sentence of up to one year and a fine up to 10 million riel, or $2,500.

The case will now move back to the prosecutor’s office, where it will be reviewed before it is handed to the provincial trial judge.

SRP you people can choose your new leader now or may be your people can desolve your SRP.

I like it when Thai major newspapers are attacking ah Hun Sh*t jerk. In fact, a request to reprimand ah Hun Sh*t's gangster attitude is already proposed. I keep sending messages after messages to ah shitty measthes@yahoo.com but ah kone mee kondouy sa'oy niss ot return any of them to date. I asked him a simple question: Did ah Hun Sh*t return to Cambodia to face charges in Cambodia when he illegally sneaked into Vietnam back in the 70's?

Also, ah Measthes@yahoo.com forgets that the Khmer Rouge Court in Cambodia still seeks more of the former Khmer Rouge members in Hun Sen's government to questions about their activities during the Khmer Rouge regime, but ah Hun Sen said NO because there would be a civil war. Hahah. Who would create a civil war when ah Hun Sen already has a grip on the entire national Army? Unless ah Hun Sen is a warmaker himself. Remember the coup he led in 1993? Hahah. Remember, he ah Hun Sen did not come to court to face the charges that Ms. Sochua submitted against him? Ah Hun Sen was nowhere in sight to answer any charges. Then on top of it, he threatened to capture Phnom Penh in a mere 2 hours. Hahha. Then the court got nervous and issued a statement saying that whatever ah Hun Sen said was only to serve as a "lecture". WTF? Hahhah. Now show me, Meastheas, have you ever seen Hun Sen showing up in court to face any charges? What about the coup charges? Lol

Not surprised at all with the CPP's court desicion and that's their game. How about our friend Sam Rainsy? He has a parachute with his French citizenship and he can jump off from the jail at anytime he wanted. But how about our two(2) Svay Rieng victims who will stay in jail for a long long time. Sam Rainsy will repeat himself with the same shit he did by apologizing to Ah Khwak Hun Sen before he can be allowed back to our Cambodian land.

Do all Cambodians still depend on him to be our leader in the future?

To Sam Raingsy

Why don't you consult lawyers in the U.S., France, Australia, etc... to see if there is any way that can be done in order to bring back the legality of our borders as well as how to impeach the traitors?

If Sam Raingsy is unable to get help then our others Khmers and intellectual leaders abroad need to inquire as well in order to resolve it peacefully! I used to advocate that China could help our cause but on second thought, I don't think China could anymore, only the west could and to be precised the U.S.! don't ever under estimate the U.S. of A.

Rainsy just called after the world.

Cambodian court deserves to be called "kangaroo court" for its injust.

Du ma mai, Du ma cong kak, Cambodian courts are designed to prosecute kangaroos. Mr. Sam Rainsy did the right thing by not showing up in court. He is too smart from all those kangaroos. Mr. Sam Raisy, I would suggest you seek legal advises from U.S.A to crash down the Hun Sen and CPP dictatorial regime. The world will surely support your actions

Hi Vietnamese 12:44 PM,
You sound so confidence about your Communist Viet's expansionism in Cambodia. Right?

Threatening the owner of the land is bad, but to threat the opposition leader not to run the election in his country, you are a damn arrogant son of bitch worse than evil in hell.

Some of the unresolved Charges against Hun Sen: Where was he? Lol.

(1)"In 1977, on orders of Pol Pot, the Khmer Rouge Commander Hun Sen led Khmer Rouge forces into South Vietnam’s Tay Nih province on hunting missions for suspected Vietnam sympathizers among the Communist Party of Kampuchea. However, once inside Vietnam,
Hun Sen fled Cambodia and escaped to neighboring Vietnam, where he was imprisoned, but he thanked Vietnam for only jailing him, and not deporting him to Pol Pot’s Cambodia."

So how come Hun Sen did not return to Pol Pot's Cambodia? Hahah.

(2) "The Khmer Rouge Tribunal wanted to put as many as 20 former Khmer Rouge who are now in positions of considerable influence within the Hun Sen government on trial for crimes committed during Pol Pot's 1975-79 reign of terror could plunge the country back into civil war. “I would prefer to see this tribunal fail instead of seeing war return to my country,” Hun Sen, himself a former Khmer Rouge commander, said, displaying his statement as a self-interested desire, given Hun Sen's own links to the Pol Pot regime before he defected to Vietnam in 1977."

So how come Hun Sen does not want the Court to charge his men? Lol.

(3)"Hun Sen was charged with engineering the coup against the first prime minister Prince Ranarridh. Hun Sen and his new government had been denounced by other governments and by editorial writers around the world. Documents showed that Hun Sen and his government carried out a deliberate campaign to kill principal leaders of the opposition, to arrest and detain other leaders of the opposition, or force them to leave the country. Hun Sen responded: “I keep myself in place to control the--the guns in order to create an atmosphere neutral, to create a--just and equal atmosphere--each political party got to have equal time.”

Hun Sen accepted that he was a criminal so how come he was not in jail? Lol.

(4)Hun Sen did not show up in the Phnom Penh Muncipal Court, but the court prosecutor droped the case against the prime minister without any elaboration. Hun Sen was facing a suit filed by opposition lawmaker Mu Sochua, who alleged the premier had made disparaging and sexist remarks against her during the 2008 election campaign.

Hun Sen did not show up in court? Lol.

(5)..More charges against Hun Sen as usual, but he will never show up in court as always.

So Mr. Sam Rainsy does not ever need to show up in any of Hun Sen's courts if Hun Sen himself does not even show up in any of them anyway. Remember that Hun Sen left his entire family behind and he chose to HIDE in Vietnam. So how come he did not return to Cambodia to face the charges against him? Ahaha.

You wrong pal, at that time Khmer Rouge did not have court. Khmer Rouge just killed by fear of their feelings.hehehe

This time Cambodia has a court, so no one obove the law, esp. the law maker such as Sam rainsy, broke the law itself.hehehe
