THE opposition Sam Rainsy Party has released what it says is evidence of Vietnamese border encroachments into Cambodia’s Svay Rieng province, in an area where party president Sam Rainsy joined villagers in uprooting temporary border posts in October.
The evidence, which was posted on the SRP’s Web site on Sunday and is to be presented by Sam Rainsy in a radio broadcast at 6pm tonight, suggests Vietnam border markers 184, 185, 186 and 187 are located inside Cambodian territory, according to French- and American-drawn maps.
In a statement released on Saturday, the SRP says Sam Rainsy has been assisted by historians and geographers from several countries in a bid to prove the border markers sit well within Cambodia’s legal borders. The SRP president is to be tried in absentia along with two local villagers at Svay Rieng provincial court on Wednesday in connection with his removal of the posts.
“We want the Cambodian people to realise the bad faith and incompetence of the current Cambodian government ruled by the Cambodian People’s Party, and we are seeking justice for the villagers currently being detained at Svay Rieng provincial prison in relation to the uprooting of the border-demarcation posts along with opposition leader Sam Rainsy,” said SRP spokesman Yim Sovann.
Cheam Yeap, a senior CPP lawmaker, said that Sam Rainsy’s appearance on the radio show would not erase his crime, adding that he has to take responsibility for his behaviour.
“If the upcoming trial at the provincial court issues a guilty verdict, he will have to respect the law … and his political life will end in the country,” he said on Sunday.

All meadia and radio broadcast in Cambodia is owned and or opperated by CPP offcials or their family. Therefore, they will not allow to brodcast anything wrong doing by the government.
Yes, this is also a human rights violation. Freedom of speech and expression, press and media. But you know as well, the Cambodian government, CPP vioate all aspect of rights to Cambodian citizens.
Just like this case. Mr. Rainsy and the villagers has done nothing wrong. They implement their rights. The post was illegally posted on the private farmland. Therefore, according to the constition the legal owner have to right to take out themself or ask smeone to take them out. Again, as you know the government do not respect the constitional laws. They used the law to punished the citizens who oppose them.
If the government is in favor of Cambodia they would represent the villagers and Mr. Rainsy to investigate dig the truth. Not unethically jaled the owner of the property and charge Mr. Rainsy. This clearly the Cambodian governmet is in favor of Viet rather Cambodia.
I am tired to see and hear many critics out there keep blaming on Mr. Rainsy. He and the villagers has don't nothing wrong. Again those border post is in private property and was posted withough the consent of the property owner. They do not need the government permission to uproot it. If this is in a true democratic country, the villagers have the rights to file lawsued against the government.

Just like the new laws was just passed for the government to legally confiscate the citizens land for public construction. The VIETNAMESE EXPANSION violated the International Laws, United Nations Resolution Paris Peace Agreements in 1991, Cambodian National Security, Secrecy and Privacy acts, the Khmer Laws of the 1900’s, the French Bonne Map of 1954 by encroaching and moving the border markers. The Cambodia-Vietnam border demarcation started in 2005 to be completed by 2008 but the Vietnamese has changed to 2012. The United Nations must inspect every new border markers according to the French Bonne Map of 1954 accurately and precisely with today technology. All the border markers the Vietnamese has been installed are not official without the United Nations, ASEAN, and International Community supervision, inspection and protect by the United Nations peacekeepers. Hun Sen kept silence on the Cambodia-Vietnam border demarcation and declares war on Cambodia-Thai border for Preah Vihear temple and surrounding area of 5 sq. km. While Cambodia (181,600 sq. km.) is still occupy and control by the Vietnamese government. Hun Sen will punish any Cambodian who anti-Vietnamese on the border issues and the Vietnamese living in Cambodia. All the Cambodian is living in fear under the Vietnamese supervision and land-grabs by forced evictions.

According to this map is enough evidence to call CPP is vietcong or serving for vietcong as clear as Sihanouk sold and served for vietcong in 1964 along the east border.
Kampuchea Krom is no different from Kashmir, Palestine, Tibet, etc--these are disputed lands!
Kampuchea Krom is an occupied land by Vietnam, hence an international resolution must be reached to resolve future conflicts between Khmer and Viet nations, else the two peoples will never live in peace.
Today short-term peace between the Vietcongs and the dictator Hun Sen is deceitful and imbalance between the two peoples--heavily favoring the Viets race. Lesson must be learned that "The African Slaves of Haiti defeated the almighty French colonials!!"
Kampuchea Krom issue is like a case of "genie out of the bottle". It will never go away, until concrete resolution is reached between Khmer and Viet peoples and mediated by the international community.
My suggestions to the Viet people:
- Respect Cambodia's territorial integrity basing on the former Colonial French Map.
- Make Kampuchea Krom a bilingual(Khmer and Viet) territories where both Khmer and Viet citizens are free to live there with strong preservation initiatives and priority given to Khmer Krom people to be competitive as the Viet people similar to Scotland within the U.K.
I thought this is the very least Vietnam can start doing now...
