“I have met my lawyer to prepare lawsuits against Hun Sen for killing many people on several occasions."
Opposition leader Sam Rainsy says he is preparing to file more complaints against Prime Minister Hun Sen, similar to allegations he has already made in a New York court.
“I have met my lawyer to prepare lawsuits against Hun Sen for killing many people on several occasions,” Sam Rainsy told VOA Khmer in an interview last week, without elaborating. “He was involved in these crimes, including crimes against humanity.”
Sam Rainsy alleges Hun Sen was responsible for the deaths of people sent to clear forests along the Thai border in the 1980s, where they met with malaria and other diseases and land mines.
“I would like to appeal to all people in Cambodia or overseas who lived through K5, who witnessed the events, or who fell victims themselves, to come together now,” he said.
There are no official figures on how many people died curing the K5 campaign. Sam Rainsy’s complaints follow victory for him in a French court in a defamation case brought by Foreign Minister Hor Namhong, who had alleged Sam Rainsy had unfairly claimed he had led a Khmer Rouge camp.
Sam Rainsy said his victory in that case “opens the way for me to file more complaints. This time not against Hor Namhong, but Hun Sen.”
Sam Rainsy said he plans to file his first complaint in a court in Geneva later this month.
The opposition leader remains in self-imposed exile and faces a raft of criminal prison sentences related to demonstrations on the Vietnamese border in 2009. With elections approaching in 2012 and 2013, Hun Sen has said there will be no political settlement of those cases.
Sam Rainsy said “modern technology” allows him to maintain daily contact with his supporters. But he added that his party was working to pressure the current government to secure his return ahead of elections.
Observers have noted that without the presence of the main opposition leader, the upcoming elections may not be perceived as free or fair.

the way i see it, prime minister have law to protect him. in order to impeach an elected official one has to found him guilty in the court of law, i.e. he did something illegal or against the law in the constitution, etc... that's the only way to win, otherwise, it is no more than a perosonal altercation between sam rainsy and hun sen, don't expect khmer peoplt pity or support people who takes law into their own hands, ok!

If the voting outcome will not go Hun Sen’s way, there will be a coup d’état made by Hun Sen and backed by the Viet, just mark these words.
And Hun Sen is only good in fighting against the Khmer, his own blood.

What SRS has been doing is no use. he can file against anyone holding power in Cambodia but the court decision bears no minor impact. Look at the win at French court against HNH. Even HNH is of course based on the court verdict the director of KR camp responsble for the death of many people, but HNH is still in power. This killer is stil representing khmer on the world stage.

Both Angkor seems confuse about how Japan builds country after world war II. To my understanding, by taking precaution step toward the growing power of communist china, the US decided to embark on a massive assistance, both finance and HRD, to help rebuild Japan. What the US thought is that if Japan is weak economically and physically, Japan may be fallen under the influence of two giants, China and Soviet Union.

Yep, Jp economy grew up after Korean war with America, but you know, Japanese technology came from Germany. And America never allowed jp to build any industry after finishing world war II.

I also got a degree from Japan Uni. But the story i know different from what u know. Japan learns technology from Germany of course. Japan even brought legal system from Germany too. But in term of rebuilding economy, Japan received a massive financial assistance from US. Japan even stays under the US' security umbrella. Japan-US alliance is known to protect these two countries interests. If Japan has no interest with US, Japan would have chose another strategic partnership and the same would apply to the US. If US has no interest with Japan, US would not create a strong alliance with Japan.

I don question the presence of US army in any context. What i am saying is that the US did help rebuild Japan after WWII. But since Japan later becomes the super world economic power, Japan no more needs financial assistance from outsiders. Japan has rebuilt country by its own. I don deny that. But at the very initial stage, Japan was assisted by US in many ways.
I also wish to clarify my position that i have never wished any country imposes anything on Cambodia. Whether it is VN or US. I want Cambodia to live independently.

Some peoples in govt seems thick skinned. No ashamed feeling at all. power is what they think most. Look at HNH. He has been judged by French court as a KR director of prison. Being a prison director, he is a among a champion in terminating people life. He should resign as a result of this judgement. It clearly proves he is a killer. But, due to his strong personal interest in foreign ministry, he wont resign. Y resign? THis ministry is his family affairs. His sons has been appointed by him to senior positions. This is ridiculous. No other country in this modern world has even done that. Father is the minister and appoint sons to high positions in the ministry...

To all SRP supporters & Khmers: it's time to learn some history. Youn always paints our nationalists and then we start biting each other without thinking.
You need to accept the truth that Sam Rainsy's political career almost comes to an end. I appreciate his courage and his commitment to changes, but when comes to Leadership, he is not the most charismatic leader for Cambodia yet.
I invite you to be open-minded and to re-assess all his deeds:
- Changing 2/3 majority to 50%+1 is the biggest mistake to exchange for his return
- Claiming to boycott the 4th-term assembly meeting today and switching to attend the meeting the next day is considered what?...
- Blaming others for not wanting him and SRP to unite. What his rationale being a leader?
- Dropping case against Hun Xen in the US? Why need to drop?...
- Public debates among all opposition and self-claimed parties should be held and let the public judge.
I'm not a supporter of HRP, SRP and whosoever, but always attend those leaders' meeting. One solution for our nation is to UNITE, UNITE & UNITE. Don't use pretext/excuses.
Please learn to trust with vigilance.
