Cambodian legislator starts official VN visit

HCM CITY — President of the Cambodian National Assembly, Samdech Akka Moha Phonhea Chakrei Heng Samrin, arrived in HCM City yesterday, starting an official six-day visit to Viet Nam at the invitation of his Vietnamese counterpart, Nguyen Sinh Hung. 

The Cambodian legislator is accompanied by Cheam Yeap, chairman of the Commission of Economy, Finance, Banking and Audit and the president of the Cambodian Group at the ASEAN Inter-Parliamentary Assembly (AIPA); and Chheang Vun, chairman of the Commission for External Relations and International Co-operation.

Heng Samrin was received by the Secretary of the city's Party Committee, Le Thanh Hai.


The two sides were pleased with achievements gained by their two peoples, and talked over further co-operation between HCM City and Phnom Penh and other localities.

HCM City and Phnom Penh have expanded ties in health care, agriculture, trade and education in recent years.

HCM City's enterprises have invested in about 35 projects in Cambodia worth a total of US$200 million. The most notable is the 500-bed Cho Ray-Phnom Penh Hospital, scheduled to be put into use by the middle of next year.
