VietNamNet Bridge – President of the Cambodian National Assembly (NA) Heng Samrin left Hanoi on July 25, concluding the official friendship visit to Vietnam at the invitation of his Vietnamese counterpart, Nguyen Sinh Hung.

During his stay from July 20-27, the top Cambodian legislator held talks with NA Chairman Hung and met with Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong, State President Truong Tan Sang, Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung and President of the Vietnam Fatherland Front (VFF) Huynh Dam.

At the meetings, the two countries’ leaders expressed their delight at the fine developments of traditional friendship and comprehensive cooperation, affirming that they always attach great importance to strengthening Vietnam-Cambodia relations for mutual benefit and for the sake of peace, cooperation and development in the region and in the world.

Top Cambodia lawmaker helps enhance relations

[Heng Xamrin] stressed that the Party, State and people of Cambodia were always grateful for the support and help of Viet Nam in their struggle for independence in the past as well as their current building and development.

HA NOI — Viet Nam has consistently implemented a policy of openness, multi-lateralisation and diversification of diplomacy, in which relations with traditional neighbours such as Cambodia was a priority. (sic!)

National Assembly Chairman Nguyen Sinh Hung made the comment while holding talks with Cambodia National Assembly President Heng Samrin in Ha Noi yesterday after an official welcoming ceremony.

During the talks, Hung described their meeting in Ha Noi as a meaningful event to mark Viet Nam-Cambodia Friendship Year 2012 and the anniversary of the two countries' diplomatic ties.

Cambodian legislator starts official VN visit

HCM CITY — President of the Cambodian National Assembly, Samdech Akka Moha Phonhea Chakrei Heng Samrin, arrived in HCM City yesterday, starting an official six-day visit to Viet Nam at the invitation of his Vietnamese counterpart, Nguyen Sinh Hung. 

The Cambodian legislator is accompanied by Cheam Yeap, chairman of the Commission of Economy, Finance, Banking and Audit and the president of the Cambodian Group at the ASEAN Inter-Parliamentary Assembly (AIPA); and Chheang Vun, chairman of the Commission for External Relations and International Co-operation.

Heng Samrin was received by the Secretary of the city's Party Committee, Le Thanh Hai.

The Party, State and people of Vietnam want to foster long-lasting relations of mutual trust with Cambodia, said President Nguyen minh Triet while receiving Heng Samrin, Chairman of the Cambodian National Assembly, in Hanoi on January 19.

“Just as both countries stood side by side with each other during their struggle for national liberation, so should present-day generations promote solidarity and help each other to develop,” said Mr Triet.

He welcomed Chairman Heng Samrin’s visit which he believed will help to further strengthen the traditional friendship, good neighbourliness and cooperation between the two countries.

He expressed his pleasure at the strong development in bilateral ites and congratulated Cambodia on its important achievements in recent times.

He extended his best regards to King Norodom Sihamoni, former King Ronodom Sihanouk and former Queen Monineath Sihanouk and other Cambodian leaders.

For his part, Chairman Heng Samrin thanked the Vietnamese Party, State and people for providing valuable assistance and heart-felt support to the Cambodian people during their past struggle for national liberation and the current process of national construction and development.

“The Cambodian people will never forget great sacrifices by the Vietnamese volunteer soldiers to help them escape the dark days of the genocidal regime,” said Heng Samrin.

‘Cambodia’s friendship priceless,’ NA leader

HA NOI — National Assembly Chairman Nguyen Phu Trong said that it had always been Viet Nam’s policy to develop friendship and multi-faceted co-operation with Cambodia at a meeting yesterday with Cambodian National Assembly Chairman Heng Samrin.

Viet Nam had always considered its traditional friendship with Cambodia as priceless for both nations, he said.

Trong said the two sides should educate people, especially the young, to continue preserving this traditional friendship and co-operation.

He said that Vietnamese people, being a close friend and neighbour of Cambodia, were happy to see the great achievements of Cambodian people in recent years.

"Viet Nam has always supported the Cambodian Government’s policies for the country’s development, the happiness of the Cambodian people, and peace and stability in the region," he said.

He said the two legislative bodies should take more practical measures to boost relations with each other.

Trong praised the two National Assemblies for ratifying an additional pact for the Border Demarcation Agreement between Viet Nam and Cambodia.

Trong also expressed thanks for the support that Cambodian people had given to Viet Nam in recent times. He thanked the Cambodian National Assembly and Government for creating favourable conditions for the Vietnamese community living in Cambodia, and for helping Viet Nam to find the remains of Vietnamese volunteer soldiers who died in Cambodia.

Cambodian NA Chairman Heng Samrin expressed his appreciation for strong co-operation between the two NAs, and said he believed that the two would continue to boost relations between the two countries.

Heng Samrin said he was happy to see co-operation between the two nations expanding in so many aspects.

He affirmed that the Cambodian National Assembly and people supported the development of co-operation with Viet Nam.

He said Cambodia was determined to complete border demarcation with Viet Nam by early 2012.

On behalf of the Cambodian National Assembly and the people of Cambodia, Heng Samrin expressed his gratitude for the great support that the Party, Government and people of Viet Nam gave to Cambodia, especially in helping the Cambodian people to escape the Pol Pot genocidal regime.

He gave special thanks to the Vietnamese volunteer soldiers who died for international duties in Cambodia, and their families.

Later yesterday, Heng Samrin was received by Viet Nam Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung.

He briefed Dung about the results of his meeting with his Vietnamese counterpart, Nguyen Phu Trong, saying it would boost bilateral ties.

Dung also spoke of the significance of Heng Samrin’s visit and congratulated Cambodians on achievements in socio-economic development, especially evident in the higher living standard of Cambodian people, the strengthened partnership that Cambodia had built with neighbouring countries and Cambodia’s stronger stance in the international arena. Dung said the legislative co-operation between the two National Assemblies had created a firm foundation for potential bonds in many areas. He said this would benefit both countries.

The PM took the opportunity to send his best wishes to Cambodian King Norodom Sihamoni and other Cambodian leaders.

If Heng Samrin can displace to thank the invading Vietnamese soldiers, why couldn't he visit Kampuchea Krom and Khmer Krom people?

Cambodian NA Chairman visits Ninh Binh province

VietNamNet Bridge - A Cambodian delegation led by National Assembly Chairman Heng Samrin and his wife visited to the northern province of Ninh Binh on January 18.

At a meeting with the provincial officials, the Cambodia NA Chariman praised the renewal process of Vietnam in general and Ninh Binh province in particular.

On the occasion of Vietnam ’s Tet (Lunar New Year festival), he wished the local people good health and prosperity and expressed his hope that the traditional friendship and cooperation between the two countries would be strengthened further.

Heng Samrin aslo expressed his deep thanks to the Vietnamese volunteer soldiers, including those from Ninh Binh, who had helped his country escape the Pol Pot genocidal regime. He sent his condolences to the families of those who had sacrificed their lives in Cambodia.

Provincial Party Committee Secretary Dinh Van Hung, who is also head of the province’s National Assembly delegation, briefed the guests of the economic, political and social situation in Ninh Binh, stressing the province’s tourism potential and international cooperation opportunities.

Later on the same day, the Cambodian delegation visited newly-built Bai Dinh, the largest pagoda in Southeast Asia .

Earlier during his Vietnam visit, Heng Samrin had meetings with the host country’s leaders, including National Assembly Nguyen Phu Trong and Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung.

Vietnam, Cambodia boost neighborliness

HANOI, Jan. 16 (Xinhua) -- Comprehensive cooperation and border demarcation were two of the topics in the spotlight during discussions between Vietnamese National Assembly Chairman Nguyen Phu Trong and Cambodian National Assembly President Samdech Heng Samrin, the Vietnam News Agency reported on Friday.

Samdech Heng Samrin paid an official friendship visit to Vietnam from Jan. 15 to Jan. 19, at the invitation of his Vietnamese counterpart Nguyen Phu Trong.

Trong praised Samdech Heng Samrin's outstanding contributions to strengthening and developing the friendship and cooperation between the two countries, after congratulating him on his re-election as Chairman of Cambodia National Assembly.

Vietnam always nurtures the traditional friendly ties and comprehensive cooperation with Cambodia under the motto of "good neighborliness, traditional friendship and comprehensive and long-lasting cooperation", said Trong.

Heng Samrin spoke highly of cooperation between the two legislatures, focusing on a range of activities, including the exchange of high-level National Assembly delegations and delegations of National Assembly agencies and friendship parliamentarians' groups, the arranging of visits for researchers to exchange experiences and the hosting of seminars and meetings for National Assembly agencies to exchange views.

Regarding border demarcation, the two sides expressed satisfaction on initial results of land border demarcation and marker planting conducted by joint efforts of the two countries in the past years.

Heng Samrin said that the successful settlement of the boundary issue is expected to reach by 2012.

The approval of the supplementary land border treaty by the two sides will help to realize Vietnam-Cambodia land border determination treaty and nurture the time-honored friendship, said Trong.

Heng Samrin expressed his thanks to Vietnam for its sincere assistance to the Cambodian people in their past struggles and during their current goal of national construction and development.

Trong concluded the discussions by expressing his thanks to Cambodia for its support to Vietnam's course of development in the past years, especially helping Vietnam gather and return home remains of Vietnam soldiers left in Cambodia.
