SRP Presidents in 5 European countries have demanded that the SRP put pressure on Eng Chhay Eang to resign from his position as party secretary-general, claiming that Eng Chhay Eang does not have all the necessary qualities to fill in this position, and his position could also affect the popularity of the party. The Rasmei Kampuchea reported that Chham Chhany, SRP President from Norway, Pang Sokhoeun, SRP Secretary-general from Sweden, Roth Chamroeun, SRP President from Denmark, Sang Vin, SRP President from Holland, and Pen Boravuth, SRP President in Italy, sent a joint letter to Sam Rainsy, to express their displeasure about the nomination of Eng Chhay Eang as the party Secretary-general. Sam Rainsy said the letter dated 22 September 2007, was an old story. He said that this issue has quieted down after Mrs. Mu Sochua sent explanation letters to all the SRP party leaders in these 5 countries. Sam Rainsy said that after the explanations, these leaders clearly understand and have quieted down, therefore, there is no issue to be of concern.

"Sam Rainsy said that after the explanations, these leaders clearly understand and have quieted down, therefore, there is no issue to be of concern."

I have to disagree with the Excellency on this one. To me, this look a bit like a time bombs that could exploded before the election.

Thus, I would maintained a continuous dialog with all of my satellites to ensure none of them will blow up during a critical time.

It is about time for him to go. Why does SRP need Sok Hua to explain the oversea members? Why not someone elese? Why not Eng Chhay Eang himself? Don't they think this shows Eang has no courage to write his own explaination to his own members. Sounding something is hidden behind the scene.

Failure to convince its own members can be resulted as failure to convince the voters, and this would jepardise the campaign in the 2008 election.

Main question remains to be asked what is on earth happening to SRP. Don't they have anyone to replace Eang, who is wellknown as a gambler. I am just wondering how SRP members feel when they have their Gen Secretary as a gambler. Vowing that 'I will never gamble again and I am committed to the party' by Eng Chhay Eang - who believe that grab. No way Jose! it can never happen. It is one per million. Why does SRP need to take that risk for?

No one would have a clue about what Sam Rainsy is going to achieve with the re-elected ex-gambler as his Gen Secretary. It seems to me this party starts derailing from its own principles - democracy. Surely, they are not going on the right direction.

The last option to propose, while it is not too late, he should put his resignation letter on the desk of Mr. President on Monday morning.

This is the so-called resistant to pressure. Typically, Mr. Sam Rainsy never too concern about his satellite branches complains. He does not care much about oversea supporter. He only care to have their financial supports. Between construtive opinions or constructive criticism and money, he will take the money. Any one who can provide him money, regardless reputation of that person was, he will come to him and raise that person as "the person with great vision".

Good on ya, Mr Rainsy! you bright color starts to gradually fading.

Negligence is as bad as arrogance which are all from own ignorance.

I don't understand you guys. Eng was pressured by Sam Rainsy to resign last year already. So he paid for what he did wrong. But he came back and win the election. I think if he really stop gambling he is one of the brave man to win himself and the members.
I used to smoke cigarette given by K.rouge when I ws a teenager(1975-1979) and edicted for 20 years. Now I stopped for 10 years and never get back.
So what do you guys think ?

I have a solution to the SRP predicament.

A universal no-confident vote on Eng within the SRP. If Eng looses, he resigns immediately but if he wins, the SRP members should not critize Eng any more. This is the democratic process and it should be done way ahead of the 2008 election.

1128pm,
None of my business,I say,it's your privacy.
Eang is no longer a private person since he is collecting pay from public supported fund (taxation). So he is everyone business.Knowing that was a weak person who can't control own morality. That's bad for politic. The choice is to save Eang or save majority?Or lose both Rainsy and Eang for the sake of party?
