remember to look beyond all of this, ok! people are greedy, even the poor ones are greedy, not just the rich already, ok! it's called people are being people, you know! that's why only the rule of law can teach them a lesson in life to respect the rule of law, to respect proper authority, etc, etc, you know! it's not development, it more of greed, unruly behavior, jealousy and all the above social illness, you know! look boeung lake sits on a prime real estate location that's slated for skyscrapers, etc to develop it into the financial district of phnom penh, ok! thus, you have bank skyscrapers, gov't buildings, hospitals, etc, etc, ok! people don't want to move away because they are greedy and jealous and political as well. again, only the rule of law will decide who stay and who should leave the area, etc, you know!

7:39AM,
I don't think these people are stupid, hypocript and greedy but you are and OKNHA backing up by Hun Sen. You know proper management does not respond with cruelty and violence like these. You are offerring the villiagers with less money and turn around disect land into small peices and sell high to company or rich people. And whle you profit from these land eviction, the landowners end up having no place to stay. Then, you turn around accuse opposition who support these landowners. Let me tell you without the opposition, Cambodia will be the SECOND KILLING FIELD.

Khmer Baphnom

everytime they open their mouth, they always attack khmer gov't for all society's ill! now be fair to khmer gov't, ok! we want to develop our country like the rest of the world too, you know! what is your problem? jeolousy, stupid or both?

i think ok sounds ok on his view of the residents side of the greed factor. i seem to understand that the residents were not compensate enough for what their properties are worth to vacate from the real estate dispute for the high rise to common housings.

Has the location of the property desired been zone for commercial development only? But investors are that - they can be ravaging & ravening wolfs.

My 3 Cents

these investors invested millions and billions of dollars, ok! so, why would they let a squatter community take over or get in the way of the investors' decision? think wisely about it, ok! squatter is just that, they have nothing to lose, while investors do, ok! get educated for a change, ok!

Anonymous said...

investors and squatters, who do you think the gov't will back? think, ok!

Ok, ok, ok, os khoa!

Don't be sad, this kind of problem is happening around the world.

It happened here in the US too. The Gov. have the right to take your land for economic development.

There is no way around it. The fair market value is just a matter of opinion. For example, if the land value is $50K now and the owner know that it will be higher when the area is develloped, then they will not accept $50K for their land !

Fair market value is the value of the land right now !! Not the value of the land 5 years from now !!

What are you going to do ???

Another issue is the relocation. If you accepted the offer from the Gov. but you still want to live on the same area around it, but there is no way you can afford it. What are you going to do ????

This is the sacrify that people have to make for the nation !!!!

It is easy to blame the Gov. But if you want to help the country, why don't all of you provide an alternate solution to the problem ???

The KR didn't have this problem because every thing is belong to the Gov. and no one own any thing except two pair of cloth.

if it's going to benefit the entire country, of course! gov't reigns, you know! cambodia is not about this small, political sqatters, you know! of course, there are more to cambodia than just this small, greedy sqatter community, you know! cambodia cannot allow sqatters to make the decision for the country, ok! and the people who sympathy with them are no more than opposition political monkeys that are looking for opportunity to shine their political ambition and to hide their hypocricy, you know!

Anonymous said...

of course, cambodia cannot afford to allow squatters to run our country's decision, you know!

Anonymous said...

be careful with who you vote for! if you vote for opposition, they will keep cambodia as a squatter community because squatters have nothing to lose, yes, investors do! apparently, oppotion poltical party favors squatters over investors, so think, do cambodia want squatters all over the country or do we want investors? so vote wisely, ok!

Anonymous said...

all the sudden, all squatters turned to khmer, i thought opposition political people they are all youn squatters! i told you, opposition political people are hypocrites, you know! they like to exploit cambodia's choatic situation for their own political gain, you know! hey, this is not the dark ages era anymore, ok! people aren't stupid like opposition assume they are, ok! no wonder opposition kept running away to overseas all the time after they make trouble in cambodia. people cannot vote for a run away, coward, untrustworthy scam rainsy again, you know!

The same guy by the name of Mr. ok made most of the above cruel comments. I hope you are not a Buddhist!

You live in the US, but your heart has no compassion, but only evil.

More than 10 armed cops beat an unarmed man relentlessly and then left him there to die and you have got the gut to support their action.

I know you visit Cambodia very now and then and I hope for you that you will not run into problems with these thugs whose action you firmly support!

You are not stupid enough to believe that Hun Sen's regime abides by the law and not corrupt, but you choose to ignore the reality for a certain reason and I hope that reason will not haunt you when you are on your dying bed and money, wealth and power no longer mean anything.

correction:

"...on your dying bed as money, wealth and power no longer mean anything..."

Hun Sen no power, the rich around him are the real power. Decho lives in fear, lot of body guards protect him, he never goes any where, just around Phnom Penh to deliver the diploma. Unlike, the rich really enjoy their lives, they freely go any where, inside and outside country. The rich use Decho for their interest, when Decho no power, they run away. Look Gaddhafi.

There are quite a few Ah Mey Ah Thong and Yiekcong's slave here.

Escaping the punishment from the traitors was the right thing to do.

A large part of Khmers' suffering was created by the expansionist Yiekcongs, who have never stop sabotaging Cambodia socially, politically, economically, and militarily for centuries.

The one thing that Yiekcongs was good at is to make Khmers fight with Khmers such as choosing a dump ass person like Ah Kwack to work for them. This dumb ass Ah Kwack who does not have any knowledge will strictly obey his master's orders, which are against Khmer's interest. That make Khmers hate Khmers, but the real culprit is Yiekcongs.

The most dangerous thing for Cambodia now is how many millions Yiekcongs reside in Cambodia and have the right to vote? We cannot allow these Yiekcongs to decide our fate.

Today, I make a solemn declaration that when I am in Cambodia in the future, far away from today, I will not do any business such as eating in a restaurant, sleeping in a hotel and the like in the area of the future business districts sitting on the Boeug Kak lake.

Even though my action will have no effect on the business as usual of these to-be-built business districts, I still cannot imagine myself supporting any business in that area developed by men with blood sucking mentality at the cost of lives and blood of so many poor Cambodians.

Would prefer to eat, sleep and do business elsewhere!

Pissed off

Why Ah Kantorbs, behind Ah Kwack's force, have been able to destroy Khmer Nationalists one by one such as beating up this brave young Khmer, Suong Sophorn ?

This puppet government has been facilitating its master’s plan of colonizing Cambodia by pushing Khmer people to live farther and farther from the city, encountering stiff hardships stemming from the lack of foods, cleaned water, school, etc…Thus shorten their life span. This is another way to kill Khmer people.

Look at the newcomers Yiekcongs who have penetrated freely into Cambodia occupied all the places that possess all natural resource and enjoy easy life while the indigenous Khmers deprive almost everything.

With the extreme discontent among Khmer people toward the puppet government, the 2013 election should heavily favor the opposition parties to win this most crucial election.
However, if the puppet government wins the election again that would surely imply that the number of yiekcongs inside Cambodia has surpassed the expert’s estimate. So, the puppet government got the votes from Yiekcongs, not from Khmer people.

THEN THERE IS NO WAY THAT THE KHMER NATIONALISTS WILL WIN FUTURE ELECTIONS.

That circumstance will leave Khmer people no choice, but to mount a popular uprising against this monster expansionist Yiekcong.

And it come to the conclusion that either we die – through peaceful massive demonstration - after this 2013 election to give Cambodia a chance to live or we cowardly stay still and let these yiekcongs eat our motherland alive. That is the choice we have to make.

Just remember that this is not the first time that Yiekcongs occupy our country. In the past, some ways and some how, our ancestors were able to get rid of them. We must do the same as our ancestors did.

Cambodia has over 14 millions people but New Zealand has only less than 5 millions look at the difference between the two goverment! And ask Why ? and Why not ?

"Christchurch earthquake:

government wants to demolish 5,000 homes
The New Zealand government has offered to buy thousands of the most badly quake-damaged houses in Christchurch so it can demolish them.

Announcing the buyout plan, John Key, the prime minister, said some land in the worst-hit areas was so unstable it would be impossible to rebuild on it "for many years".
The decision means land in the razed suburbs will effectively be abandoned in the city's rebuild.
Christchurch, the country's second biggest city, was devastated by major earthquakes in September 2010 and again in February this year, and continues to be rocked by strong aftershocks which are causing more damage.

Mr Key said engineers have divided the city, home to 350,000 people, into four zones.

The government will offer to buy all 5,000 properties in the worst affected areas, classed as red zone.
Householders who accept must assign their right to an insurance payout to the government in return.
He estimated the net cost to the government would be up to NZ$635 million (£323 million).

About 10,000 houses in an orange zone need further investigation, while a further 100,000 in a green zone can be rebuilt.
Properties yet to be assessed comprise a white zone.

The worst-hit suburbs are all in low-lying eastern areas of the city that suffered liquefaction, a process in which the ground turns to liquid during the shaking and leaves a quagmire of sludge.
As beleaguered residents, frustrated by months of waiting for the announcement, pored over online maps to see which zone their street was in, Mr Key pledged: "The government remains fully committed to rebuilding Christchurch."

He went on: "Since September last year, the government has been working to provide certainty for residents, while recognising many people have their life savings tied up in their homes."
The prime minister said the move was "the next step in the government's ongoing work to give the people of greater Christchurch a clearer picture of what their future holds".

The cost of rebuilding Christchurch has been estimated at NZ$15 billion (£7.6 billion) or more."

8:57 AM,

We did provide the solution. Create an independent committee to assess the values of their homes and give them proper and fair compensation.

In any case, brutal forces should not be used against unarmed civilians.

Where do you live right now? In USA, France, or Canada, etc.?

Is that how they solve the problem in where you live?

Have you not learnt anything in your new country?
