Hun Xen sent a letter to officials at the Phnom Penh city hall to take measure to resolve the ongoing land dispute raised by Borei Keila and Boeung Kak Lake communities, along with the intervention letter sent by Rong Chhun at the end of April.
The letter dated 03 May 2012 and signed by Ho Sithy, Hun Xen’s cabinet chief, is a response to requests made by the Boeung Kak Lake communities, the Borei Keila communites and by the Cambodian Independent Teachers’ Association (CITA) dated 26 April.
The request asked that Hun Xen intervenes and provides justice to 117 families of evictees who did not yet receive home compensations in Borei Keila, as well as Boeung Kak Lake residents who are still waiting for the decree to the 12-hectare land promised to them. The protesters also ask for help for their needs due to their eviction from their houses.
However, Keut Chher, the cabinet chief for the Phnom Penh city hall, claimed that he did not receive this information yet as of Monday 07 May 2012.
