Comrade Hor 5 Hong, the minister of Foreign Affairs, rejected Nuon Chea’s accusations who said that crimes against the Cambodian people during the KR regime involved Vietnam. Nuon Chea talked a lot about Vietnam in the tribunal hearing chamber while Nguyen Phu Trong, the Vietnamese communist party secretary-general, is currently visiting Cambodia.

Hor 5 Hong said that the issues raised by Nuon Chea in the KRT hearing chamber are merely claims made by a man who is charged with crime against humanity, however, according to Comrade Hong, the truth is opposite to what Nuon Chea claimed.

Comrade Hong made this declaration in response to questions asked by reporters at the ministry of Foreign Affairs on Wednesday 07 Dec. The reporters were asking his comments regarding the accusations made by Nuon Chea who said that crimes during the KR regime involved Vietnam, and that Vietnam intended to rule over Cambodia. According to Nuon Chea, that was the reason why the Cambodian communist party had to struggle to liberate Cambodia.

The tit-for-tat response between Comrade Hong and Nuon Chea is taking place at a time when Nguyen Phu Trong, the Viet communist party secretary-general, is visiting Cambodia. Regarding the KRT case, in the afternoon of Tuesday, during his meeting with Nguyen Phu Trong, Comrade Hun Xen said that the trial of former KR leaders brings historical truth to Vietnam. The trial shows the rightfulness of the aid provided by the Viet army for the liberation of the Cambodian people.

"Letter of Sam Rainsy to Secretary General of Vietname Communist Party" raised by Sourn Serey Ratha

KI-Media Note: Today, we received the following letter from Sourn Serey Ratha, titled "Letter of Sam Rainsy to Secretary General of Vietname Communist Party", along with the English translation posted below. In his letter Sourn Serey Ratha urged readers to "Please read clear letter on below." While Sourn Serey Ratha did not specify what he wanted the readers to see in this letter, one can clearly assume that he wanted the public to notice Sam Rainsy's dealing the newly installed VCP leader Nguyen Phu Trong. Now, for those of you have followed Sam Rainsy's action, you may have remembered that Sam Rainsy had always written congratulation notes to ASEAN leaders, for example, on 16 December 2008, he also wrote a congratulation to Abhisit Vejjajiva, the Thai leader who was later cursed by Hun Xen, he also wrote a congratulation letter to Benigno Aquino who was elected as president of The Philippines on 12 May 2010. Does that make Sam Rainsy a puppet of Thailand, Vietnam and The Philippines just because he wrote these letters? To help answer this question, we would like to quote Dr. A. Gaffar Peang-Meth who wrote today: "This old technique is used more and more by Hun Sen's "willing executioners" to distract those who might criticize Hun Sen by stirring Cambodians' emotional anti-Vietnamese and anti-Thai sentiments in the name of nationalism." We cannot answer for Sam Rainsy, but we believe that "fair is fair" and would-be Cambodian politicians should learn a thing or two about diplomacy before pointing their fingers.

VietNamNet Bridge – National Assembly Chairman Nguyen Phu Trong received a delegation from the Cambodian NA’s Committee for Foreign Affairs in Hanoi on November 14.

NA Chairman Trong welcomed the visit by the Cambodian delegation, led by the Foreign Affairs Chairman Son Chhay, that coincided with the 40th anniversary of Vietnam-Cambodia diplomatic ties, the 40th founding anniversary of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) and the 30th anniversary of the ASEAN Inter-Parliamentary Assembly (AIPA).

Chairman Trong said Vietnam and Cambodia share a time-honoured friendship and have enjoyed fruitful cooperation in many fields in recent years.
